This whole thing is a staged cover my rear feigned -I-did-not-have-sex-with-that-woman-Monica-Lewinsky kinda speech. It is calculated. It is contrived. And, Clinton is an actor. He's deliberately invading Chris's space. Re-writing history. And using this, just prior to an election, to try to make it look like the Bush administration and Right Wingers are worse than Bin Laden for this country.
Sorry, I don't believe the anger act. Clinton doesn't do this unless he has specific agenda in mind, such as covering for the p-poor job he did the entire 8 years of his Presidency. He was a failure. Dismal failure. He allowed Bin Laden to thrive and survive and then when it came time for a turn-over of power wouldn't give proper briefings to Bush to transition.
Did Bush make mistakes? Sure. But he had 8 months worth of data (none of which pointed to a specific attack which was imminent but merely they might be going to hijack some planes - not that they were going to crash those planes into buildings) and got caught unprepared. Clinton lived under direct attack on this nation's interests during his Presidency and did NOTHING.
This is a way to get publicity for himself and to get his ideas out and to bash Bush.
Frankly, he is a puny little man and traitor to his country and always will be.
The episode I'm describing was one of his post-9/11 speaking appearances -- this time at Georgetown University sometime in November of 2001. He looked terrible, his speech was slurred and he looked so gosh-awful deranged that C-SPAN wouldn't even show the video of the event when they replayed it a few days later (they played the audio of the speech over a still photo of some kind, if I recall correctly).
By my count, it was at least 6-8 weeks before he made another public appearance after that. I've long speculated that he was being treated for some kind of psychiatric breakdown and/or substance abuse problem in that intervening time.
