The Democrats' dream of retaking Congress may be fading as fast as gas prices are falling. CNN sees a plot to keep the GOP in power.
But a USA Today/Gallup survey conducted Sept. 15-17 showed President Bush's approval rating rising to 44%. And in a generic poll of party preference for House elections, Republicans and Democrats were dead even at 48%.
Not that long ago Democrats had a double-digit lead
Lacking any policy on Iraq and the war on terror other than repealing the Patriot Act, stopping surveillance and offering captured terrorists milk and cookies, Democrats hoped rising energy prices would be the ticket.
Judging from polls and prices, their election hopes might be about to tank.

I hope Bush's and Republicans poll numbers keep rising, gasoline prices keep falling and Republicans retain control of Congress by a decent margin.
Dems have nothing to offer, except obstruction of good plans in the War on Terror, social security reform, taxes...

The futures markets have "Republicans hold House" at 55%.
Those are polls with real money stakes.

Gads, I forgot about the Hillary "Alice in Wonderland headband thingy" Clinton of yesteryear, who remarked disparagingly about baking cookies and standing by her man.
She looks quite matronly now, compared to the 90s.

If the Republicans would have been up all summer in the polls and suddenly things were even, the MSM would say the electorate is now paying attention. Instead, Karl Rove and the Republicans are now selling fear!

Sorry. I just couldn't stop myself.
At least I didn't post the HT pic.

The article misses the big story of the election.
This has turned into an incumbent's year, which is a huge change from the predictions of a few months ago.
This is good news for career politicians, and bad news for people (on any side) who want change.

For Regular gas, I paid $2.21 a gallon at the Pilot Truck Stop in Nitro, WV...
Somewhere, a liberal is mad about that. I saw a lot of people with Kerry stickers on the backs of their cars filling up there anyhow.

It could be a sign that most people believe ( in spite of our other problems )and see that the economy is actually doing ok ( in spite of what the MSDBM says ).
And in spite of what the MSDBM says about Iraq, that people want us to continue in Iraq and get the job done and bring our troops home.
It's a sign that most people don't want change in a time of war, and that economy is doing ok.
Another cause of this is, that most Americans are waking up and are seeing the true face of the Democrats and the MSDBM...... only time will tell.
We must still get out the vote, and vote on November 7 th... either in rain, snow, hail, bad news reports.
