No matter what we do will be condemned by our media.
They either are or are NOT the enemy. And if they stand amidst "innocents" and we have the stupidity to not take the punks out, then shame on us. We can't win. We won't win. We don't have the guts to wipe them out.
I just think of what they did to the last two soldiers that were captured (eyes gouged out, mutilated, etc.) and I wonder when we're going to stop pussy-footing around and clean them out. All wars have casualties, and THE HELL WITH THE MEDIA. Boy, I'd hate to be in uniform today. They can find us (we're in uniforms) and we can't find them (they're cowards and hide amongst civilians). Lord All Might, Colonel!
Yep. I'm not saying level the country, but if there are perhaps hundreds of Taliban in one place, level it. I don't care who is nearby. I HOPE if Osama were surrounded by a similar group, we would destroy him... Until the enemy hits us again, we are going to be hamstrung by PC.
But you're point is well taken, and even if there's nothing for them to hyperventilate over, I'm sure they'd invent something...
laweeks - I agree with your prior post #17 but I also wonder just how much the decision makers over there feel like they are going to be supported by the pentagon and administration when our media falls all over themselves to put a picture of a dead kid on television.
I have been in the hotbox before and trust me.... in the back of this Generals mind he was asking himself how expendable he was to those above him who seem more concerned with the media coverage (especially prior to an election) than they are about winning this war.
Shades of Vietnam anyone? It's a helluva way to fight a war and I guess we have to wait for 9/22 since 9/11 did not wake us up sufficiently.
If it were up to me we would have taken the shot and told the media to pi$$ off but I can at least sympathize with the guys decision in the face of the Monday morning QB's.
