REP. RANGEL BLASTS CHAVEZ: DON'T ATTACK MY PRESIDENT
Drudge ^ | September 21, 2006 | Drudge Reporting

Posted on 09/21/2006 10:18:07 AM PDT by Blogger

RANGEL: AN ATTACK ON BUSH IS AN ATTACK ON ALL AMERICANS... 'You do not come into my country, my congressional district, and you do not condemn my president. If there is any criticism of President Bush, it should be restricted to Americans, whether they voted for him or not. I just want to make it abundantly clear to Hugo Chavez or any other president, but do not come to the United States and think because we have problems with our president that any foreigner can come to our country and not think that Americans do not feel offended when you offend our Chief of State'...

Poor Hugo.

He has been quoting democratic talking points repeatedly for a long time now, and then a couple go and stab him in the back....lol

Geeeez, you mean that he can't trust even his closest political allies in this country?

Where is the outrage from all the other democrats? Their silence speaks volumes.

Rangel AND Pelosi defending Bush against Chavez!!!?????

Talk about cats and dogs sleeping together!!!

The Dems must see an opportunity to score some political points - they aren't speaking out over love of country or affinity for Bush!!!

Not that I have seen. Could be strategery. But, I think its more likely cowardice and corruption. They don't know what to say - so the Dems just said it for them.

I bet Chavez felt right at home in Harlem amongst all of those people devestated by years of Socialism.

Well, we can observe Rangel has said much worse about Bush himself.

I agree - Rats have polling problems.

"Amazing that Bush's silence has allowed a scumbag liberal to come out and say what all Americans have been thinking over the last 2 days. We are so soft. If Bush would only get off his ass and take the offensive he could go down with greatness. "

While I agree with you in general, I do wonder if this will not end up helping President Bush more.

If I'm a moderate democrat and my congressman or senator comes on TV defending the President, it my change my perspective slightly. Maybe make me think that the President isn't really that bad after all.

Just a thought.

I don't think the book will hurt them. Most people haven't a clue who Chomsky is. Siding WITH Chavez would have hurt them though. Most Americans don't like that kind of rhetoric - particularly coming from a foreigner.

Don't you know that only democrats are allowed to offend our Chief of State. This is total horsesh$t. As I said on another thread, why should Rangel (or Pelosi) act so surprised that a nutcase would come and say something like this when they have been saying it for YEARS! Rangel, Pelosi and the rest of the dims have created the very atmosphere that makes Chavez comfortable giving the kind of speech that he did. Rangel is just trying to save his political @ss!!!!!!!

Someone cut and pasted comments from the DU moonbats yesterday regarding Chavez's comic strip tirade. You should have seen the DU's comments. They ate it up. I mean they loved Chavez's speech and thought it was right on target. What does THAT tell you?

That is pathetic. I was expecting the republican presidential wannabes to come out swinging..nothing. Pretty sad that the party of the person being vilified would have no comment at all.

The only thing the Dems have going for them is repeating lie often enough until they become fact. They are just doing this to get the comment repeated while feigning patriotism.

Evil whisper voice:...Haliburton...Big Oil...Diebold...Wal-Mart...The Devil....

I think Bolton's "comic strip" comment said all that was needed.

LOL, yeah, this is something they cannot remain quite about.  Even though I've heard Rangle call Bush worse things in the past four years, this close to elections Dems would have been painted with the Chavez paintbrush. Having Danny Glover a leading Democratic spokesman introduce this clown and taking snapshots of mainstream left wing sites like MoveOn may still allow us to paint them crazy.
