RANGEL: AN ATTACK ON BUSH IS AN ATTACK ON ALL AMERICANS... 'You do not come into my country, my congressional district, and you do not condemn my president. If there is any criticism of President Bush, it should be restricted to Americans, whether they voted for him or not. I just want to make it abundantly clear to Hugo Chavez or any other president, but do not come to the United States and think because we have problems with our president that any foreigner can come to our country and not think that Americans do not feel offended when you offend our Chief of State'...
They have given the dems agita this time! LOLOL
Read:
"Only we can call Bush evil, stupid, liar, Hitler, moron, terrorist and Emperor. Just not you, Chavez"
Pelosi, et al.
Are the same things you hear every election year by the same usual suspects.
Oh, HELL yeah. Even those 'Burgh weirdos are with us!
nah, they just know nov will not be a merry fitzmas
Don't be taken in. Of course he has to say that to save face. After the debacle in 2004 with Kerry's claim of foreign leaders talking to him at Starbucks and the "global test" bit, they're doing their best to present a united front.
Otherwise, they'd lost any and all mainstream support.
The great part about it is that this is going to seriously alienate the left fringe.
But it still helps Bush (probably not the Pubbies though). Bush was "victimized" by Chavez's comments. His enemies just validated how wrong it was. If the vacuum hadn't have been there, the Dems probably would have taken a different tactic. However, the Reps look a bit weak here (not Bush, but the Reps in congress) which isnt good.
never argue with a fool
U.S. Rep. Charles Rangel, a senior black Democrat in Congress, said Wednesday that he would consider retiring from the House of Representatives if the Democrats don't retake control of the House after the midterm congressional and Senate elections in November.
"If the American people support the Bush gang and reject what is sane, moral and just, then I would consider some educational opportunities where I could still fight for my principles without being on the losing side of the U.S. Congress," Rangel told BlackAmericaWeb.com.
Bush will get another Poll bounce from Chavez' comments. Maybe even put him in the 50s. The Dems have polling data indicating such and are trying to do damage control.
I also agree with Rangel that some American oil companies should help with lower price heating oil. We don't need to be beholden to any foreign country.
I have to agree with you. Why should the Republicans respond to this two-bit dictator who has the maturity of six-year old kids on the schoolyard? His childish, banal name-calling may tickle those who have the same mentality as he does but adults should be above that.
Let the DemocRATS bring up their phony condemnations. As others have pointed out, they have said much worse about President Bush that this ... human has said.
-Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-Harlem)
June 2005
We always say, whenever one of our guys offers criticism, that the dog that squeals is the dog that got hit, and that, "oh, there must be some merit to it". Why should the President and the Republicans dignify this asinine behavior with a response? You might say, "Well, Clinton would." We're not them! The American people see through it, people like you and me, and we are making our opinions known (albeit, in an echo chamber), and we will make our opinions known at the ballot box.
So with all due respect, direct the furor where it belongs. I understand the frustration, but channel it to where it will do some good...at the ballot box.
Rush reading this now!!
You don't allow criticism of this nature, especially in front of other world leaders in a UN forum, to go unanswered. Rice and Bolton came up with the "We will not dignify President Chavez's remarks with a response ..." which is far to weak ... they needed to hammer this POS with "We condemn these remarks by President Chavez as being both juvenile and irresponsible in the extreme, certainly not worthy of a leader of state, even Venezuela."
Total coincidence. (Unless Rush is reading my stuff.)
Rangel. for all his faults is a veteran, and no veteran stands around while some foreign dirtball talks like that about an American President, especially right here on American soil.
Is that why he first thanked Venezuela for it's donation of fuel to the residents of the Bush of Alaska in the same press conference?
Sorry, this is pure caca (note I did not say macaca). And those Alaskans taking the oil: No problem. Take advantage of it. JUST DO NOT TELL US HOW WONDERFUL PUTO CHAVEZ OR VENEZUELA IS!!
Tell us you still think Puto Chavez is a turd world dictator that you hate, but you'll take his oil.
Sorry- I most strenuously disagree. I wasn't always this cynical. However, I do not believe nor trust one WORD from Charlie Rangel.
