I believe President Bush entered the office of Presidency knowing the main stream press would never give him the benefit of the doubt on anything. In a war of words between him and the left, they would provide cover for their friends on the left, and use any words or action on his part to paint him (and his party) as being mean and petty.

So this President has taken the high road, he has shown nothing but grace, humility, and forgiveness towards those that have attacked him. Daily going about the public's business.

I know this approach has angered many on the right, includeing many on this forum, who want him and his administration to get into the trenches fight as dirty as those that attack him.

But this President has had the beneifit of watching and learning from previous Republican administrations. When your opponents control the media, you will never win a pissing contest.

Elections are not won only on the support of one extreme of the spectrum or the other. Elections are won by those voters in the middle that consider themselves moderate.

As many have noted, President Bush is not a conservative, he is just to the right of center. Anyone that gets elected to the office must either really be someone in the middle (or like President Clinton, be able to convince enough voters that he is).

The left has tried a number of tactics to bring down this President, they have all failed. The reason, unlike what they did to Nixon, the media has been unable to demonize President Bush. It is my opinion that if President Bush had went after the Clintons, or got into no hold brawls with the Democrats over every issue, the media would have been able to demionize him, and would have been able to bring him down.

The secret to winning is to play your own game, not the other guys. The President just keeps on pushing his agenda, being nice to the opposistion, and as Rush likes to say, this drives them crazy, forcing them to even more extreme action.

The latest from Bill Clinton reflect more on him then it does on this administration, and for one I can only say, keep talking Bill, we need the votes.

Well said. My mother taught me that you catch more flies with honey than you do vinegar. If someone has been rude or unfriendly to me, I just try to "kill them with kindness" and to be so sweet to them that butter wouldn't melt it my mouth. Rush is right (as usual) - it drives them crazy!

BTW, this article was a milestone for me because I have finally, after 14 years of Bill Clinton, found something that I agree with him about - John Edwards ran too soon. Since I am from NC, it is my fervent hope that he killed his chance at being the Democrat candidate for POTUS forever!

Brilliant analysis and you should be heartily congratulated on your clear thinking. I, for one, am giving you a standing ovation and a BRAVO/BRAVA.
