(Bridgeport-AP, Sept. 18, 2006 2:37 PM) _ U.S. Senate candidate Ned Lamont says the federal government should subsidize health care costs for low-income people and help small companies buy into insurance pools to reduce their costs.
While the Senate campaign has so far focused on the Iraq war, Lamont toured a Bridgeport health clinic where more than 30-percent of patients don't have insurance. Lamont says Bridgeport is on the front lines of a national health care crisis.
Lamont defeated Senator Joe Lieberman in last month's Democratic primary by criticizing Lieberman's support of the Iraq war and saying the senator was too close to President Bush.
Polls show Lieberman leading Lamont among likely voters, with Republican Alan Schlesinger far behind.
Lamont's campaign is criticizing Lieberman, saying he did nothing to improve health care and of shutting down congressional debate over health care in the mid-1990s.
Lieberman spent Monday campaigning in eastern Connecticut, visiting a Norwich fire station and a Plainfield senior citizens center

Guess the Muslim reaction to the Pope has heightened awareness of the need to combat the cretins.

The bourgeois liberal must be crazy to advocate for single payer coverage or, alternatively, insurance for all through private vendors.
Once done, they face rationing, increased costs through taxes or premiums and governmental intervention in lifestyle matters. There is no way to get more health care without more money. Claims to the contrary have never worked.

It is NOT about health care....health care for democrats is code-speak for MORE GOVERNMENT WORKERS. They believe, rightly so, that if you can nationalize health care, you create a democrat voter, since that worker will fear republicans "cutting" federal government and thus their jobs.

um..isn't this President Bush's plan ?

A "progressive" populist like Lamont surely wants justice and equality for all.In the interests of this equality he'll certainly propose that any resident of Connecticut can move to his home town,Greenwich, and live in a rent controlled,"affordable" house or apartment.

"We" DO subsidize healthcare for the poor in this nation.
To: Puppage
So he wants to steal doctors away from the middle class, does he? Because that's exactly what will happen.
Doctors don't magically 'poof' into existence by giving people more money. They have to come from somewhere.
I think we can agree that the rich won't be losing their doctors so it will no doubt be the middle class.
And what will doctors do to their prices when all this additional money becomes available? They will raise them to absorb all that money.
Hell, that's happening RIGHT NOW. He wants to make it even worse!
And the very same thing is happening with college education spending.
