Good to hear about the temp job which hopefully if you get it will cover you till Christmas. Hopefully once Christmas is over companies will be looking to on more people and you get more offers.

Yes, hopefull it will last at least through Christmas. I also have a phone interview scheduled Tuesday for a job in Irvine, California, which is about 30 miles from where I live now. It's for a longer term, but I would take the shorter term one because it's close to where I live now. I would try to make myself useful there in the hopes they keep me longer.
