Foxnews reported that X42 is seeking more exposure (haven't we seen/heard enough from him?) and he was to meet with Laura next week to jointly host an event. Thrilled that this article makes no mention of it and I sincerely hope what he thought would bring him the attention he craves, just sizzles.

...he was to meet with Laura next week to jointly host an event...

It's true. It's some side event to the UN General Assembly meetings in New York. The First Lady will be a keynote speaker during opening of X42's three-day Clinton Global Initiative in New York next week.

Mrs. Bush's chief of staff, Anita McBride, said that Clinton, aware of Laura Bush's involvement in issues that his foundation addresses, called the First Lady several months ago to solicit her participation in the conference. She agreed because she can talk about issues that matter to her.

Something I've thought, but never said openly before, but I think GWB's dad has undercut his son by forming such a close friendship with Clinton. X42 has been a repeat guest at the Kennebunkport, Maine, home of the elder Bush couple. Why the old man does this, who knows, but it makes it difficult for the current President and First Lady to give X42 a cold shoulder. So X42 has lunched with GWB at the WH recently, and he issued the invite to the First Lady for a "Clinton Global Initiative" conference (whatever that is) to be held in New York while GWB attends the annual UN GA.

Even the best of parents sometimes meddle inappropriately in the lives of their adult children. Sigh.

Did you ever get to see the press conference? I still smile when I think about it! :)

I don't think GHWB's reasoning had anything to do with the fact that his son is the president. GHWB has his own life and Dubya makes his own decisions.

This is true, but I do think the friendship GHWB has struck up with X42 (no doubt deliberately cultivated by Clinton), makes it harder for Dubya and Laura to give X42 a cold shoulder. You know the media. If GWB and Laura were seen by them to be less respectful to their wonderboy than GWB's own father and mother, you can just imagine what the media would do.

I don't think the media could be any worse to President Bush than they are now. What more could they do? They compare him to Hitler, they claim he's taking away all of our rights, they act like he's the biggest idiot on the planet...how much worse could it get?

MUST READS . . .

THE ANCHORESS writes another phenomenal commentary dissing those haters among us who want the Pope and our President dead! . . . Her commentary is particularly sobering given that the NYPD (and probably scumbag Bloomberg) have backed down and are now going to let the anti-war/anti-everything freaks protest within the President's travel perimeter at the UN on Tuesday --remember the incident in Oregon that Bill Sammon detailed in one of his books?!

Responding to David Corn responding to me.
By Victoria Toensing

It’s a shame David Corn chose to show his displeasure with my September 15, 2006, Wall Street Journal op-ed about Richard Armitage’s role in the Valerie Plame so-called leak by making a baseless personal attack against me. I wrote: “The first journalist to reveal Ms. Plame was ‘covert’ was David Corn on July 16, 2003, two days after Mr. Novak’s column. The latter [Robert Novak] never wrote, because he did not know and it was not so, that Ms. Plame was covert. However, Mr. Corn claimed Mr. Novak ‘outed’ her as an ‘undercover CIA officer,’ querying whether Bush officials blew ‘the cover of a U.S. intelligence officer working covertly in…national security.’ Was Mr. Corn subpoenaed? Did Mr. Fitzgerald subpoena Mr. Wilson to attest he had never revealed his wife’s employment to anyone? If he had done so, he might have learned Mr. Corn’s source.”

JUST HOW LOW WILL THE MSM SINK TO STEAL THE 2006 ELECTION FOR THE DEMOCRATS? Just read the following 'eye opener' from RCP and remember what I warned a coupla' days ago -- the MSM plans to manufacture the polls and news stories (including headings) necessary to help the Democrats win the upcoming election . . . WE MUST NAME THE GAME AND GET OUT THE VOTE ON NOVEMBER 7!!

If the Anchoress's column isn't already posted here, it ought to be.

No, I haven't seen it. For some reason I can't get the video to play.

I heard Rush talk about it on Friday, have seen the clip with Gregory, and can read it, but I want to SEE it!

(We were driving through the mountains of PA when it was happening.....)

Personally I feel the "friendship" with Clinton that GHWB seems to have formed it more to do with being part of the ex President Club than anything else.

IMHO I think that GHWB feels that they share something that very few other human beings do being an ex President of the United States of America and therefore there is a unique bond. I feel that he believes despite what Clinton has done or not done etc etc that should have this what to most people is a strange relationship/friendship.

As for GWB he may well also share a similar view even though he may not agree and abhor many things that Clinton did during Presidency but still feel that for the sake of America and its traditions that the current President and ex President(s) should at least attempt to get on. It is shame that other ex Presidents including at times Clinton do not afford him the same courtesy.

Also as a Christian GWB may also feel to give Clinton the cold shoulder is not a good witness after all you see day in day out GWB extending the hand of friendship and co-operation/reconciliation with his opponents and critics in Congress including such people as Kennedy and Kerry.

As much as I do not want to direct traffic there, you may want to try CSPAN's site. I had no problems watching it earlier today.
