My son-in-law just made E-7 in the Army. Way to go chief, but you'll miss the white cover for a while.

Only works if you get a medical retirement, like I am. Certainly not what I wanted but they disgreed. Still get to retire as LT with all benefits, just have to wait for the VA after I get out.

It's an ESWS pin (Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist). Not only you have to be DIVO qualified (on 3-M), but the PQS book is very thick, and you have to go in front of a board and answer many questions (3-M, engineering, DC, supply, etc.

You are right about that. Warfare pins are now required to promoted to CPO. I knew plenty of fleeters that came to the Seabee battalions just to get the SCWS pin. Not exactly your typical sea duty.
