I hate to sound like a Grassy Knoller, but I wouldn't put it past Syria to have set this up. Send a few guys on a fools errand, make sure the car bomb would not detonate, and have their security forces save the day. That way, they can say....."Hey, we care about terrorism, too."

I just don't buy it.
