Yesterday the President participated in 9/11 ceromonies in New York including attending a memorial service.
Today he attended a ceremony at the Fort Pitt Firehouse on the lower east side of Manhattan afterwhich he travelled to Shanksville, Pennsylvania to lay a wreath at the Flight 93 crash site.
He and the First Lady then went to the Pentagon to lay another wreath at the crash site there as in Shanksville the President and first lady met with families of those who lost their lives after the wreath laying ceremony.
Yesterday the Vice President appeared on the Meet the Press. Today he led the remembrance Ceremony at the White House joined by his specially invited guest Baroness Thatcher who also attended a memorial service with him at John's and later at the State Department.
Later on this evening the President will address the nation please feel free to use this thread as safe live thread.
I urge all that have not yet done so to check out Wolfstar's dose from yesterday where she does a fantastic timeline of the event of 11th September 2001. There are also some fantastic photos some of which you probably will not have seen before.
Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island
I began to watch it last night and would you believe, our local ABC had a message scrolling across the screen saying
"we will air the 2nd part on Saturday night, so as not to disrupt the Chargers football game on Monday."
OK, not a big sports fan here, I thought that was wayyy out of line.
So far it's pretty good
Comforting the relatives at the Pentagon
Thatcher walked w/o an escort on the way back to the WH.
She's doing better than I thought. Good to see.
She is, truly, a LADY.
Even with the time taken out Clintoon was still refered to unfavorably in some of the dialog.
That was great to hear/see.
But I too would like to see what was removed.
Sometimes
truth hurts Billy boy!!!!!
Shut up & deal.....with it.
Figures, Though I still can't believe it.
The greedy tv network nerve.
Football should never take preceedence
over this subject matter.
That is ridulous BBC2 aired it last night and tonight - I was watching it whilst preparing the dose.
I have recorded it to DVD anyone who wants a copy freep me. There are no breaks or adds just 2 parts.
I am now helping dad to bed when I get back I will post the Vice President's photos.
Wolfstar--pinging you to the top photo in post #70. The touching foreheads moment.
(((((Awww forhead toforhead greeting and in tears shot.)))))
I caught the last few minutes of C. Gibson's nightly news in which he asked youth to talk about the impact of 9/11 on them. One teen said that a few days after 9/11, he looked out a window and everywhere he looked, he saw flags. And what came to his mind was, as he said, literally "that line from the song: our flag was still there," and he said it gave him hope.
I don't know if he knew enough about history (you know how the libs have cut the heart out of that subject) to know that Key was saying our troops were still in position, fighting, and that is why the flag was still there.
Either way, what a statement.

I am thrilled that our vice president invited your great former PM Thatcher to this day's events. In the first photo, which is taken at a distance, she looks great.
Yep :) They kept most of the Sandy Berger scene in and made the point even with a few seconds shaved off. I was especially glad that they left the "Clinton/Lewinsky" scene in--LOL
I'm lurking on the live thread ... judging by the comments, President Bush and Condi are being treated fairly. But the Richard Clarke scenes are laughable.
