And how's that defined (the welfare of the family) ? Why is that only *her* responsibility to put before something else ? It's a *man*'s responsibility to do the same.
Here's a question for you - if your wife made more money than you would you stay at home and be a house husband ? If your answer is *no*, ask yourself why that is, and why should you place that same burden on a woman.

Yes. It's a man's responsibility to put the family before his own selfish wants as well. I thought that went without saying.

Uh, news flash. Men and women are different. Man can not bear children. Men can not breast-feed children. The natural course of things is for the woman to care for the children--at least until a certain age, while the man provides for the family. A woman who interrupts her career two, three, or more times to spend 2-3 years a pop raising her kids is unlikely to be in a position to make more money than her husband.
I know what it's like in the office environment for women who keep taking maternity leave to have multiple children--the boss can't wait to move them out permanently.
I am a man--the father of 4 kiddies. We actually tried it with me staying home and my wife working (she had a very good job making more money than I) after the birth our first. We stopped after nine months. Why? Well, #1, my wife got pregnant again and it's no fun to work when you're carrying a baby. And #2, when I asked her to tell me honestly what she preferred to do, she said "stay home and raise the kids." So we took a pay hit for a while at first. But we learned to live with it. And I bless her for it every day.
I think a lot of women stay on the career track quite against their will after they have children--because their husbands get used to a certain lifestyle that is facilitated by wifey's paycheck. Such men, in my opinion, are scoundrels.

why should you place that same burden on a woman. It should NOT be a burden for a woman to stay home and take care of her family.
I think it is tragic that the majority of our children get housed in day care like cattle, just because their mother's aren't "fulfilled" by taking care of them.
And I think that most of the decline in our country when it comes to ethics, morals and responsibility is a direct result of women leaving the home, and allowing the family to come second to their career.
Personally, and flame away, I think that any woman who chooses a job over her children should be ashamed.
