AWESOME photos of our President with his Marines and our First Lady with her 'mates' on the USS Texas -- May God continue to bless our First Couple!

MUST READS . . .

Mark Noonan at blogsforbush says it all:

A MAN WORTH FOLLOWING

A lot of lefties ask us here at Blogs for Bush why we keep supporting the President. What they mean, in their leftwing Alternate Universe, is why support a man who deliberately lied to get us in to Iraq and who personally set Katrina on the path to New Orleans? Still, if we strip the leftwing oddity from the question, it still remains: why continue to support the President?

Paul Gigot over at Opinion Journal gives the answer:

"Love or loathe President George W. Bush, you can't say he lacks the courage of his convictions. Down in the polls, with the American people in a sour mood over Iraq, Mr. Bush isn't changing his policy or hunkering down in the Oval Office. Instead he's doubling down, investing whatever scarce political capital he has to frame the November contest as a choice over the economy and taxes and especially over his prosecution of the war on terror.

The strategy carries no small risk, because if Republicans lose, Democrats will feel even more emboldened to challenge him on national security. The final two years of his presidency could be dreadful and the chances of a U.S. retreat in Iraq would multiply. On the other hand, his senior aides say, Mr. Bush will be blamed if Republicans lose in any case, so he might as well play his strongest hand to prevent such a result. And if the GOP holds both houses, he'll deserve much of the credit."

It was after 8 years of never knowing what Clinton would do until the latest batch of polls came out that we got President Bush - a man as constant at the North Star. While some Bush policies may irk this or that element of the conservative coalition and while President Bush will engage in some political log-rolling in order to advance key issues, the plain fact of the matter is that once President Bush lays down a marker, we know for certain that he will adhere to it. Doesn't matter if 90% of 9% support it - if the President thinks it is the right thing to do, then it will be done.

It is a tonic to have our government led by a man of principle - and we who support President Bush wouldn't give that up for any price...if it means that we have to put up with an endless campaign of slanders, half-truths and character assasinations, then we'll just put up with it. The payoff is worth the price.

FIVE YEARS ON
There have been far more victories than setbacks since September 11.

September 11, 2001, it is often said, was a day that "changed everything." Five years later, it remains to be seen whether that's really as true as it deserves to be.

SEPTEMBER SONG: THE POLITICAL SEASON IS CHANGING
September 8th, 2006

Democrats are once again experiencing the adrenalin rush that accompanies the prospect of regaining power in one or both houses of Congress. Polling data tells them that the President has low approval numbers, and the Republican-controlled Congress is even lower in public esteem. Well-informed analysts like AT’s Richard Baehr believe a takeover of the House of Representatives is a realistic possibility.

But, as has happened so often in recent years, the GOP is poised to rebound, and may well once again dash the hopes of power-lusting Democrats. Not only does the President control the agenda of government and therefore of much public discourse, but the voting public behaves rather differently in the run-up to elections than it does the rest of the time. I first wrote about the phenomenon at the beginning of this year. With the season changing, it is worth repeating my theory of the two seasons of American politics.

[Lifson identifies and explains the two seasons in politics: the Inattention Season and the Attention Season. We are now moving into the ATTENTION SEASON and, unlike many at FR, the President understands this season well!]

I'm just going to quietly point out that Ohio State is beating Texas 17-7.

In one of very few situations where I oppose the President, I am quite pleased right now, but don't wish to offend our First Couple by being too filled with glee. ;)

Great stuff, Deb. Thanks for the ping. The leftists will never understand greatness. They're "great ones" are so small!
