Lieberman Points Out a Turnabout by Lamont (Praised him for Clinton speech Sept. 16, 1998)

Ned Lamont, who this week chastised Senator Joseph I. Lieberman for his public rebuke of President Clinton during the Monica Lewinsky scandal, wrote to Mr. Lieberman at the time praising the eloquence of his speech on the Senate floor.

“I supported your statement because Clinton’s behavior was outrageous: a Democrat had to stand up and state as much, and I hoped that your statement was the beginning of the end,” Mr. Lamont, then a cable television executive, wrote in an e-mail message to the senator’s Washington office on Sept. 16, 1998, two weeks after Mr. Lieberman’s speech.

At the time, Mr. Lamont wrote that he had “supported the moral outrage” Mr. Lieberman expressed reluctantly because he “thought it might make matters worse,” adding that “unfortunately, the statement was the beginning of a process that has turned more political and morally offensive.” He urged Mr. Lieberman to “stand up and use your moral authority to put an end to this snowballing mess,” and suggested that “It’s time for you to make up your mind and speak your mind as you did so eloquently last Thursday.”

“I’m the father of three and the thought that Clinton testifying about oral sex before the grand jury may be broadcast into my living room is outrageous,” Mr. Lamont wrote. “This sorry episode is an embarrassment to me as a father and to us as a nation.”

Ned's first email this morning.

Markos,

What should I do? Lieberman is calling me on my own words and being very mean to me.

I just shat myself.

Ned also gave money to Lieberman as late at Feb 2005, when Joe's position on the Iraq War was already as clear as day, proving Ned a total fraud and adopted lapdog of the BlogNazis.

So Lamont was for criticism of Clinton, before he was against it?

Seems like at the time there were a lot of MoveOn.org types who felt the Lieberman rebuke was sufficient punishment for slick.

In fact, wasn't their full name back then Censure and MoveOn?

It's a crock. Lamont knows he isn't going to win and he is just propping Joe up.

The last thing Hillary needs is ned Lamont in the Senate. It will make her look more liberal, not that it is hard.

Joe is going to run away with this and then all those libs that backed Lamont will come back to Joe like nothing ever happened.

Have you seen what they have said about Joe Lieberman? They do not want him to lose his Senate seat, they want him to die a painful death.

Read Firedoglake, DailyKos, Huffington Post, etc for some details.

Or you could google, "Rape Gurney Joe"

If Kos endorsed every Democrat, there would be no Democrats in Congress.

It's a crock. Lamont knows he isn't going to win and he is just propping Joe up.

Then why in the name of God did he run against him in the first place?

If he wanted to "prop him up", he wouldn't have entered the primary.

There is a reason. The leftwing needed validation. This was it.

With that said, Joe is going to win the election and continue to vote 90% liberal. The leftist nutjobs made their point. They can take down any of their candidates at any given time.

I don't believe that many Democrats want this country to know about the Daily KOS and DU. If they did they would go over to the right so quickly.

Remember, this isn't about Democrat and Republican. This is about Marxism and Conservatism. The more the lefties go public the more people will desert them.

There is a reason. The leftwing needed validation. This was it.

What? Validation that they can support a candidate into the ground?

They can take down any of their candidates at any given time.

They didn't "take down" Leiberman. He's going to win, BIG.

I'm sorry, but you aren't making much sense here.
