"I don't assume that everyone who is on Free Republic is a conservative republican. I have watched the various polls conducted by Jim Robinson, and I think that there are mostly conservatives on Free Republic. However, there are some libertarian, some rinos, and some hit-and-run democrats.....and, of course, the occasional trolls.

Therefore, it wouldn't surprise me to find ~liberals on this thread, too."

It don't take all kinds, we just got all kinds. Fewer of the seriously liberal than the seriously conservative, quite probably, but there are still at least a few from every part of the political spectrum. That is one of the things I like about FR. It happens that I'm a Mormon. Supposedly, so is Harry Reid. I am not sure how that could be, considering that many of the things he appears to believe in are anathema to my church, but I understand that John Kerry thinks he's a Catholic, and BJ Clinton thinks he's a Baptist. I've experience of both of those churches, as well, and I have the same sorts of questions about them, knowing what I do of doctrines their claimed churches follow. Of course, I'm probably a lousy example of a Mormon, too. Maybe that is all it is? It DON'T take all kind, we (and they) just GOT all kinds?

When I was 18 I registered as a democrat. Mostly because my parents were democrats. But I never voted for a democrat simply because they never reflected my values. As a christian I had to vote my conscience. So the fact that Carter was a "born-again christian" didn't dissuade me from those values. I voted for Ford. My christian values superceded my party. So after 10 years of being a registered democrat I re-registered as a republican and never looked back.

That's true, but the Democrat Party is now defined by its most extremist fringe. This is the party that embraced Mickey the Moron's Farenhype 9-11 horseflop. Fatboy is a scrurrilous America-hater who has a warm spot in his lard-laden heart for all the Jihadist scum on earth. Instead of denouncing this pile of dung in a ball cap, the Demoniac Party welcomes him like a brother. Then there is DU, Moveon, and George Soros. No, there is no way a real Christian, or any other right-thinking person, could vote for this Stalinist bunch.

Sorry, but Dems have made it crystal clear for over 30 years that they are the party of death. If a Dem says he isn't pro-death, don't believe him. They simply won't tolerate anyone who's pro-life, not ever.

If this happens, be skeptical of the Democrat. I will NEVER vote for a Democrat. I know it's hard sometimes to vote for certain Republicans but we must. The way committee chairmanships in state legislatures and the congress are structured, we need all the Rs we can get. The only way any pro-life Democrat is of any value to the pro-life movement is as long as Democrats are in the minority. Then their vote will help but if Democrats are in the majority, it is guaranteed there will no pro-life legislation even brought for consideration.

I have a question for you then. Who presides over the affairs of man? Will that being reward us for supporting or enabling evil? GOD does not reward those who endorse evils. We have choices in voting. Vote for a candidate which we can in good moral conscience or don't vote for that office and let GOD deal with it. It's called faith. If I know two candidates have stands on issues which are morally wrong and I give my vote to them I share in their wrong. How can if I intentionally do wrong expect GOD to correct it? He won't. He will forgive you if you ask but you will still suffer for that action here on earth.

Both the DEM and GOP are overflowing in plenty of evil. The DEMs don't hear the cry of the innocents from our nations abortion clinics, the GOP ignores the cries of the Martyrs in China and honors the nation with Most Favored Nation Trade Status. One lone voice stood up to the thug Communist Dictator in his last official visit and what did our President do?

No it's national moral choices and until we as a nation stop choosing evils over right in our election of leaders we get the leaders we as a nation deserve.

One of the prime movers of the 70's 80's movement was a DEM. That was Jerry Falwell. But even he has sold out now. A recent letter from Chuck Baldwin My Response To Dr. Jerry Falwell by Chuck Baldwin September 6, 2006 is a good description of where Jerry is at this point. But to Falwell's credit he, Weyrich, and Phillips helped user in a Conservative Revolution in this nation driven on Christian Principles.

The sad part is the GOP gave up the good fight as soon as they won the most important key battle. They simply won the battle and surrendered the cause and fight in the name of maintaining power. Fear of the loss of seats took precedent over acting on issues which got them elected. Today we have a very hollow promise of their support of conservative principles that no one takes serious anymore. From then on it was token acts of Conservatism followed by a demand of allegiances to a party no matter how wrong it was {1996 for example}. If the GOP wants to win they know how. But being the lesser of two evils isn't gonna cut it.

Our nation will indeed fall unless the people of the nation say enough is enough. Do that and both parties will go back to being that which they were before our nations moral decline began in the late 60's early 70's. Stay the course as it is and within you lifetime we will be under a brutal dictatorship a nation exiled within itself alienated from GOD and ran by evil. We will not be what the GOD Fearing Founders envisioned as a nation.

Can a person be a DEM and a Christian? Billy Graham is such. I can not think of any one person who has directly preached to more people in the modern age.

I'll vote my conscience and on principle. If the nation did as much we would see a nation rise from it's decline. Evil in any form can never be a choice to ones expecting positive results.

Read all my post in here. The GOP can not by anymeans hold it's head high as a moral compass either. I'm showing both sides of it and what the solution must be to fix it.

You cannot in good conscience be a believing Christian and a Democrat at the same time.

You said nothing in contradiction to my statement. God may not bless political parties but He does bless people and people make up political parties. If you have more blessed people in one political party the effects of their blessedness is going to show in their decisions. The problem with the GOP is the good guys, the blessed ones, are acting as cowards. The are afraid of offending others who are not blessed as they are. In fact, they don't know the gifts God has given to them. I have no problem voting a party other than GOP if the candidate is pro-life, pro-marriage etc.

I don't vote Republican, I vote anti-Democrat. If somebody comes up with a viable alternative to the GOP, to quote Ross Perot, "I'm all ears."

I am very tired of arguing with people like you who have your idea of what is correct. I completely agree with your ideas of what is right and what is wrong. I want the exact same things. However, I do not believe that sitting out elections is going to progress us toward our goal. If we allow Democrats to gain control, we have lost all hope.

The Democrat platform is evil, therefore, I will NEVER vote for a Democrat. I don't care who you use as an example, if they still consider themselves a Democrat, I have no respect for them.

My only answer can be this. Do you honestly feel the nation as a whole is better off than it was in let's say 1985? Do you honestly feel as safe? Do you honestly feel as free? Consider the events of the past 16 years before making a decision. I will support the Conservative GOP by that I mean in the tradition of Reagan. I do not support the new GOP which is owned and ran by the Rockefeller Republicans. They are as evil as any liberal Democrat in their policy because the only thing even remotely conservative about them is strictly on the business and trade policies. Even they they will turn their back on evil for the right price. The GOP is not one party it is two within one now and is split. This was done in 1996 and the party never recovered.

For as pessimistic as you are, you must acknowledge that the RATS have become the party of fringe lunatic lefties.

They are my enemy. We must stay united in general elections and use every opportunity in primaries to rid ourselves of RINOs.

It is happening. We must be willing to accept victory in any way we can, even if it means baby steps.

To allow the RATS to take over is total defeat.

Take a hard look at what the Rats profess and compare it to Christian beliefs. Maybe then you can see why you cannot in good conscience be a believing Christian and a Democrat at the same time.
