Top officials of the Clinton administration have launched a preemptive strike against an ABC-TV "docudrama," slated to air Sunday and Monday, that they say includes made-up scenes depicting them as undermining attempts to kill Osama bin Laden.
Former secretary of state Madeleine K. Albright called one scene involving her "false and defamatory." Former national security adviser Samuel R. "Sandy" Berger said the film "flagrantly misrepresents my personal actions." And former White House aide Bruce R. Lindsey, who now heads the William J. Clinton Foundation, said: "It is unconscionable to mislead the American public about one of the most horrendous tragedies our country has ever known."
ABC's entertainment division said the six-hour movie, "The Path to 9/11," will say in a disclaimer that it is a "dramatization . . . not a documentary" and contains "fictionalized scenes." But the disclaimer also says the movie is based on the Sept. 11 commission's report, although that report contradicts several key scenes.
Berger said in an interview that ABC is "certainly trying to create the impression that this is realistic, but it's a fabrication."

Maybe ABC ought to get Babs to defend them, she approved of the made up scenes in the Reagan biopic her stepford husband starred in.
I hope that is true. According to Hugh Hewitt, the suits at ABC huddled together all Labor Day Weekend, going over the production and editing a few scenes. (As if they would do this if it were scenes about President Bush! *snort*) According to Hugh, the cuts are very slight and do not diminish the imprint of the Clinton Administration's inaction.
He had Cyrus on his show yesterday for almost the entire 3 hours. It was really good. Cyrus is quite confident that it is a truthful representation of the facts. Unfortunately, he is not privy to any (if any) of the edited footage. As a producer, "that is always a concern when your work is edited".
Again, I hope it is true that they didn't touch it at all.
Oh, and it isn't exactly kind to the Bush Administration, either. Condi, especially, does not come off very well. Richard Clarke is basically a hero through the movie.
They even refer to the "Legacy."
LOL!!!
ping.
thx :)
Chicago Tribune says the film is being edited:
"ABC toned down a scene that involved Clinton's national security adviser, Samuel "Sandy" Berger, declining to give the order to kill bin Laden, according to a person involved with the film who declined to be identified. "That sequence has been the focus of attention," the source said."
Never mind Clinton himself admitted failing to get Bin Laden when he could.
I am a stockholder in Disney ( well over 1000 shares) and I just phoned shareholder relations to tell them that I would be ROYALLY PISSED if the movie was cancelled or edited in any significant way.
Just heard a clip of Clinton's comments from last evening ..to the effect that the number of troops sent to Afghanistan vs Iraq showed Saddam was more important than Bin Laden....
gee, Bill, ABC shouldn't air film that makes you look bad but, it's OK to make comments that make President Bush look bad.
Will Bill ask TV networks to censor Bill Mahr or Michael Moore.....or Kerry, Kennedy, Pelosi, Schumer, Reid.....when they comment on national TV that Bush is a liar and stupid??? Hmmmmm, think I know the answer to that one...
The operative word is found. Notice how the same wording of this statement never changes for the Left. They know that it is hard to find something if it is taken. Just ask Sandy (the Burglar) Burger. Everyone with an ounce of logic knows that the WMDs were moved out. We do not need the government to do our thinking for us. We know that the government cannot tell what it really knows about where these weapons are. We know that the DemonRATs are counting on the Bush Administration to keep its knowledge of the WMDs quiet because of its Top Secret nature. With that knowledge, the DemonRATs can continue with its mantra: "The Bush Administration lied about the WMDs and its justification for the War in Iraq."
Thanks for posting the ABC site.
I emailed them to ask if they would censor Joy Behar or Rosie O'Donnell when they make negative comments about President Bush. And, will ABC censor Reid, Kerry, Kennedy, Pelosi, Schumer when they make President Bush look bad by calling him a liar and stupid?
They need to air the complete and unedited version of the Path to 9/11.
Hey, you're lucky it doesn't show you stuffing government documents down your drawers.
"Hope" is very, very powerful. It carries along such soothing elements that even the most practical and pessimistic are often tempted. BUT, sorry:
A scorpion is a scorpion.
"Hello Mr. Frog!" called the scorpion across the water, "Would you be so kind as to give me a ride on your back across the river?"
"Well now, Mr. Scorpion! How do I know that if I try to help you, you won't try to kill me?" asked the frog."
You know the rest of the story. It's only a matter of when ABC whips out the stinger. The MSM will stop at NOTHING to destroy this Administration. ABC is doing this to build your hope that the American people will understand what Clinton did. But, ABC understands that Clinton is not running in the upcoming election. In a few weeks, their "neutrality" bolstered by this series, they will stike, more viciously than ever.
The MSM is the MSM.
Swift Boats story all over again, only thing missing so far is Kerry, though he isn't missed.
Time for the real conservatives on FR,
be it Republicans, Independents or Democrats
(like Zell Miller and John O'Neill) to band together
and oust the looney left and RINO's
The "Politically Correct RINO's" on FR are the same group
who "swore"
klintoon, hitlery, hanoi kerry, sanbdi ber(bur)glar, al bore, jane beno,
would be prosecuted for
pardongate, chinagate, the bribes in upstate NY in the 2000 NY Senate race, waco, etc, etc,
"when" the "time was right".
Make sure Kurtz knows this:
Feb. 15, 2002 meeting with Long Island Assoc...Clinton admits refusing to take Bin Laden:
"Mr. bin Laden used to live in Sudan. He was expelled from Saudi Arabia in 1991, then he went to Sudan.
And we'd been hearing that the Sudanese wanted America to start dealing with them again.
They released him. At the time, 1996, he had committed no crime against America so I did not bring him here because we had no basis on which to hold him, though we knew he wanted to commit crimes against America."
