This is an email from John Ubaldi, a Marine reservist.
It is my distinct honor to invite you to the "America Remembers" 9/11 memorial & rememberance that will take place on Monday, September 11, 2006 at the California State Capitol in Sacramento, California. This marks the 5th year anniversary of that fateful day, and the resolve and determination of our people to press forward, undaunted by the tactics of terror and fear. This event is co-sponsored by the pro-troop non-profit group, Move America Forward, as well as The New 101.9 FM - The Wolf - Fresh Country.
The "America Remembers" event is expected to be the largest 9/11 observance in the western United States and will feature a candlelight vigil to honor those who died in the 9/11/2001 terrorist attacks as well as the heroic men and women of the United States military who have given their lives in the cause for freedom in Afghanistan and Iraq. The sacrifices that these dedicated, proud and upstanding individuals made for this country cannot ever be appreciated enough. I know the caliber and integrity of these men and women - I served with them in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
There will be performances by the incredible patriotic singer, Kaweah Angel, the Americana good-times fever of the K-Street ramblers jazz band. Derek Clark will also perform his moving and inspirational song, "Good Night Soldier." In addition there will be speeches by 9/11 search & rescue teams and tributes to the police, firefighters, EMTs, and of course those brave passengers of United Flight 93, who found courage and bravery in a moment of terror and fear.
This event will be free and open to the public, and I really hope you will make the effort to attend. Feel free to bring your entire family - including the kids. Blankets and lawn chairs are also allowed. And as a Marine reservist, I wouldn't mind seeing you bring an American flag as well. Old Glory should fly high on such a day - a day that marks our willingness to never give up our cherished values of freedom, individual liberty and justice.
If we cannot take just a couple of hours to pay tribute to those whose lives have been lost in our nation's valiant course for the betterment of all mankind - if we can't be inconvenienced to say "thank you" to our nation's heroes and to honor the fallen... then what good are we as a people? Please, do whatever you need to do to make it to this event so that we may stand together as one people, united in a shared determination that another 9/11 will never occur again.
Radio personalities Melanie Morgan and Mark Williams will be there. So too will Deborah Johns of Northern California Marine Moms. Lots of military supporters and retired military personnel. They all hope to see you there too, and hope you'll pass on word of this event to your friends and family. Again - we want a huge turnout to show the world that American resolve has never been stronger!
DATE / TIME: Monday, September 11, 2006. The program runs from 7:30-10:00 PM however, you can begin showing up at 5:30 PM to reserve a place to sit.
LOCATION: Western quadrant of California State Capitol grounds (this is along the 10th street side of the Capitol complex) - in Sacramento, California.
FOR MORE INFORMATION: Feel free to email me, John Ubaldi, at john@MoveAmericaForward.org or call me at (916) 441-6197. Also, keep checking the website, http://www.MoveAmericaForward.org for ongoing updates up until the event!

This is an email from John Ubaldi, a Marine reservist. I should note that I worked in the same office as John Ubaldi on the morning of 9/11. I stood (in Impeach98's office) next to Rudy Giuliani's political guy Jake watching the devastation all day as they began listing the names of the deceased police and fire brass. Poor Jake was in shock. He kept saying, I know that guy, I know that guy too.
Meanwhile John Ubaldi was placing calls to his reserve commander to request activation. I know a lot of men stepped up to enlist and reactivate after that terrible day, but Gunnery Sergeant Ubaldi was one of the first.
I will always remember that morning, and I salute John.

Never forget and Never surrender. These days, I am losing my faith, though. The Moonbats actually think Bush planned 9-11 and a slim majority of all people in this country think Iraq was a bad idea. I am starting to lose faith in our country and it's people. The moonbats are in "Holocaust Denial Mode" and they are converting people daily. I'll try not to lose the faith, but I am starting to.

Beautifully said, ElkGroveDan!
John really had guts. Went and harrassed every person he could to get the next seat he could on a plane out to Afghanistan. Then he was off next to Iraq.
If only those who criticize, bitch and moan about the war on terrorism had the guts and fortitude of Master Sergeant Ubaldi!

Too many people are forgetting the horrors and also the heroics of that day.
This vigil is an opportunity to remember the former and salute the latter.

"Ping to my Greater Bay Area Ping List if anybody wants to go to Sac-Town. " Melanie Morgan, Joseph Williams and a host of other people will be making the trek from the Bay Area to the State Capitol. So, hopefully lots of KSFO listeners and FReepers will do the same!!
