There will be performances by the incredible patriotic singer, Kaweah Angel, the Americana good-times fever of the K-Street ramblers jazz band. Derek Clark will also perform his moving and inspirational song, "Good Night Soldier." In addition there will be speeches by 9/11 search & rescue teams and tributes to the police, firefighters, EMTs, and of course those brave passengers of United Flight 93, who found courage and bravery in a moment of terror and fear.
This event will be free and open to the public, and I really hope you will make the effort to attend. Feel free to bring your entire family - including the kids. Blankets and lawn chairs are also allowed. And as a Marine reservist, I wouldn't mind seeing you bring an American flag as well. Old Glory should fly high on such a day - a day that marks our willingness to never give up our cherished values of freedom, individual liberty and justice.
If we cannot take just a couple of hours to pay tribute to those whose lives have been lost in our nation's valiant course for the betterment of all mankind - if we can't be inconvenienced to say "thank you" to our nation's heroes and to honor the fallen... then what good are we as a people? Please, do whatever you need to do to make it to this event so that we may stand together as one people, united in a shared determination that another 9/11 will never occur again.
Radio personalities Melanie Morgan and Mark Williams will be there. So too will Deborah Johns of Northern California Marine Moms. Lots of military supporters and retired military personnel. They all hope to see you there too, and hope you'll pass on word of this event to your friends and family. Again - we want a huge turnout to show the world that American resolve has never been stronger!

Move America Forward bump!
Ping to a MAF Candlelight vigil and Memorial event to remember the victims of the 9/11 attacks, and to support the troops Monday in Sacto.
Never Forget Bump!
I should note that I worked in the same office as John Ubaldi on the morning of 9/11. I stood (in Impeach98's office) next to Rudy Giuliani's political guy Jake watching the devastation all day as they began listing the names of the deceased police and fire brass. Poor Jake was in shock. He kept saying, I know that guy, I know that guy too.
Meanwhile John Ubaldi was placing calls to his reserve commander to request activation. I know a lot of men stepped up to enlist and reactivate after that terrible day, but Gunnery Sergeant Ubaldi was one of the first.
I will always remember that morning, and I salute John.
Ping to my Greater Bay Area Ping List if anybody wants to go to Sac-Town.

Warning: Graphic Content
Just want to let you (and everyone) know I moved OUT of SF to Santa Rosa! What a RELIEF! There are American flags here and some Republicans! I wish we could get them elected though!!!
Well how-dee, Mr. Sync!
Looks quite nice - and of course we will keep adding goodstuff to the program!!
Thanks for a nice thread, buddy.
PING PING PING!
Beautifully said, ElkGroveDan!
John really had guts. Went and harrassed every person he could to get the next seat he could on a plane out to Afghanistan. Then he was off next to Iraq.
If only those who criticize, bitch and moan about the war on terrorism had the guts and fortitude of Master Sergeant Ubaldi!
BUMP!
Too many people are forgetting the horrors and also the heroics of that day.
This vigil is an opportunity to remember the former and salute the latter.
Melanie Morgan, Joseph Williams and a host of other people will be making the trek from the Bay Area to the State Capitol. So, hopefully lots of KSFO listeners and FReepers will do the same!!
Thanks for doing this.
BTTT
BUMP!
Bumping up.
Sad day never forgotten.....
