Boston, MA (LifeNews.com) -- Haleigh Poutre was the victim of child abuse and was nearly killed via euthanasia when Massachusetts officials gave up on her after she entered a coma. Now Poutre, once termed "brain dead" by doctors, continues to improve and is speaking a few words, her grandmother says.
Sandra Sudyka, the girl's biological grandmother, is no longer allowed to visit her granddaughter and now says she is ready to speak to the media about Poutre's condition.
She told The Republican newspaper that she last saw Poutre on July 18 but indicated she was "doing well."
"She was bright-eyed and smiling. She is always responsive to us," Sudyka explained.
Department of Social Services had asked Sudyka not to talk with reporters about Haleigh, but since they will no longer allow her and Haleigh's biological mother, Allison Avrett, to visit the 12 year-old, she said she's going to talk to the media.
"I decided since they broke the deal, I am going to talk. People should know how well she is doing," Sudyka told the newspaper.
"They don't want people to know how she is doing after they wanted to pull the plug," Sudyka said.
DSS spokeswoman Denise Monteiro declined an interview with The Republican but said that the visiting privileges have been suspended, not terminated.
Haleigh first began speaking in June, her grandmother told the newspaper.
"I was saying to her 'I love you,' and she was trying to say 'love' and it came out as a vibration...'ove,'" Sudyka said.
Sudyka, who is working with an attorney to adopt the girl, said she has said hello, responds to comments and questions, speaks nonverbally and is able to write her name. Haleigh can't walk and is confined to a wheelchair.
Avrett, Poutre's biological mother, lost custody of her daughter after physically abusing her. Poutre was put into a foster home where her adoptive parents also abused her. Her adopted mother committed suicide after abusing Poutre so much she had to be hospitalized.
DSS took Poutre into custody and when she appeared to slip into a coma, the agency asked the state Supreme Court for permission to take her life. That's when Poutre began responding.
Poutre has been receiving physical, speech and occupational therapy since January 26 at Franciscan Hospital for Children in Brighton.
Gov. Mitt Romney appointed a commission to look into how the state failed to properly handle the girl's case.
Yes, it is happening. No, it shouldn't be happening. Almost everyone on that thread gets it, with a couple exceptions.
I received this via e-mail from the Terri Schindler Schiavo Foundation:
"Recently, an older (not elderly) priest in Texas fell into a diabetic coma and was
rushed to the emergency room. When he arrived, he lay on a table for more than an
hour. Without conducting any tests, the medical team leader designated this beloved
pastor as in an "irreversible coma," diagnosed him as terminally ill, transferred
him to hospice care and ordered no nutrition or hydration!
This would have meant certain death, except when his own personal physician heard of
it, he intervened. He realized that the coma was reversible, he immediately ordered
nutrition and hydration and necessary therapy.
Four days later, this priest left the hospital under his own strength, and returned
to his normal activity!
Hospital room doors have actually been blocked with police tape with the words "NO
FOOD OR WATER" printed on them - preventing hospital personnel from providing even
basic care for their patients.
Why? All because these "death with dignity" enthusiasts have convinced ultra-liberal
TV show hosts, college professors and even judges, that it's cheaper and better to
kill someone off than to care for them. "

Jeb gives Pam Campbell, Esq. a judgeship without an election. She's the dumb bunny who said that Terri was PVS which was how the murder plot began. Jebbie's career is over. The convention overlooking Tampa was another sign of the times. The whole state was in on Terri's murder plot. Her killers are getting promotions. Jeb must owe the Semblers big time.
Allison was on tv last night. She looks like a normal woman who appeared to love her daughter. Pretty scary profile, huh?

You mean Jeb's favorite rich people, Mel & sons?
Like I, many here are deeply appreciative of T'wit's keen analysis and understanding of the issues surrounding Terri's Legacy and his views are sorely missed even when he is out a short time. I am sure he will be back with us and on the thread soon as he can get hold of a keyboard. In the meantime, he is in our prayers today.

Positions on Terri clarify again which side of the fence is which, especially when rehashed by tired old mantras.
"This Congress does exactly what the president tells them to do; a complacent, complicit Congress," said Rep. Steny Hoyer of Maryland, the second-ranking Democrat in the House of Representatives.
Democrats deny that their "obstructionism" limited Congress' achievements. Instead they blame Republican infighting on immigration, stem cells, spending and treatment of detainees. They deride the Republican leadership's fixation on tax cuts and social conservatives' unpopular priorities, such as last year's legislative effort to prolong the life of Terri Schiavo, a Florida woman in a vegetative state.

This Wednesday, October 4, 2006, at 2 p.m., Stephen G. Peroutka, chairman of the National Pro-Life Action Center (NPLAC), will be joined by the family of Terri Schiavo at the National Press Club for a very special announcement regarding the life and legacy of their daughter.
"Terri Schiavo's struggle for life has taught us a very important lesson: that each and every human life is sacred, regardless of physical limitations, stage of development or circumstance and this is a something the world cannot afford to soon forget," stated Peroutka. "It also is true that those ignorant of history are bound to repeat it. Our forthcoming announcement will detail our effort to ensure that this tragic circumstance is never allowed to be repeated or forgotten."
Peroutka and the Schindler family's announcement has the support of the following organizations: the Pro-Life Action League; Life Dynamics; Thomas More College; Faith and Action; The National Clergy Council; National Black Pro-Life Union; Defend Life; Priests for Life; Christian Defense Coalition; Crossroads, WAVA and many more.

"Unfortunately, the laws now err on the side of killing rather than protecting the disabled," Bobby Schindler said after a broad indictment of many of the main players in Terri Schiavo's death March 31, 2005, after a feeding tube was removed on court order.
"That's what is so frightening," he said Thursday after speaking before more than 200 people at a benefit dinner hosted by Flint Right to Life and Black Americans for Life. "I think we've lost our sense of compassion."

In Washington, Kennedy's public profile has risen steadily in recent years, thanks in part to the conservatives who have criticized him. Along with other justices, Kennedy has taken conservative hits for citing foreign law in a number of rulings, including banning the death penalty for juvenile killers, and state sodomy laws for homosexuals.
The high court's refusal to intervene over Terri Schiavo also outraged many on the right. Some lawmakers have suggested Kennedy and other "judicial activists" should be impeached.

Its in Fort Defiance, Virginia, interestingly enough. With a name like that for a burg, why should not one of its youth follow through?
Anyhow, there in her Augusta County school hallways and classrooms Samantha handed out papers with religious verses on them. Suspension. Over and out. Defiance? Well, thats what is being decided at the moment while Samantha declares to media that she will be back in studies. Yes.

Whattttt????? Now thanks to the Jeb Bush appointment, Greer doesn't have to commit all the atrocities by himself. (and a couple others...)
"He said, 'Congratulations, do you still want to be a circuit judge?' " St. Petersburg lawyer Pamela Campbell recalled Thursday. "I said, 'Why yes I do.' " The governor appointed Campbell and Pinellas County Judge Shawn Crane to fill bench vacancies on the 6th Judicial Circuit.
Do we all know the role Campbell played in faciliting the killing of Terri? She may be remembered as creating a miracle like making a blind man deaf, in this case as presumably supporting the Schindlers, tossed a baton in the gears to jam the chances of appeals for Terri.

I remember back in the days when a majority of people couldn't wait to retire to Florida. It was proof of achievement and membership in the elite club. It was a badge of success. Now, I would think, it is a badge of courage. More courage than I have. I'd feel safer walking in on an armed robbery in progress than to get sick or be disabled in Florida. Believe me, there is no smile on my face. I'm quite serious.
People can think that what happens in Florida is their business and none of anyone else's. I don't agree. I especially don't agree when Florida's example is held up as the ideal for all to worship in other parts of the country. Now, that is a scary thought. A scary thought because the madness hasn't been contained down there in the state that has a great many that prides self in fighting off the federal government and winning in it's bid to kill off Terri Schiavo -- courtesy the court order of Judge George Greer.

An undercover investigation has found doctors in China are willing to sell organs from death row prisoners to foreigners in need of a transplant. The grisly practice add to mounting evidence of how human organs are being traded around the globe.
Only last week it emerged at least 40 British patients may have been given transplants using body parts stolen by a corpse-snatching gang. More than 1,000 bodies including that of veteran broadcaster Alistair Cooke, were stolen from US funeral parlours by the Mafia and sold for use in bone grafts.
