Many many many years ago I was a cop in the Air Force, ALL cops profile. It is in the nature of the work. "That guy don't look right", all El-Al and the Israelis have done is codify it, you act a certain way they are going to talk to you, it doesn't matter what you look like.
Which is the superior way to profile as our enemies do not all look the same.
Also, our enemies hope we suppress all Muslims because it feeds into the picture Bin Laden et al paint of us and helps their recruiting efforts. We cannot feed the "us versus them" mentality.
