UN Secretary General Kofi Annan said Sunday afternoon following a meeting with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad that the Iranian leader had expressed willingness to cooperate with the international community to reach a solution to the escalating crisis around Iran's nuclear enrichment program.
However, Annan stressed, Iran remained steadfast in its refusal to cease enrichment ahead of talks.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, left, shakes hands with UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan during their meeting in Teheran.
The UN works wonders once again. (Nice jacket, LOL)
AND?????? (tapping foot waiting for Kofi's enlightened answer)
TO ARMS JUB JUB! Prepare a stern letter of dismay and use angry keystrokes.
Annan's polite way of saying that the U.N. is nothing but a toothless, old dog. It's time for the U.N. crowd to turn out the lights and go home. The party is over. Their way isn't working.
Kofi reminds me of those ineffectual parents I deal with who threaten their child with claims of using various punishments and then show zero follow through when the child continues to misbehave. It's no wonder that his own son was involved in the oil-for-food scandal.
Ok, why do we need the UN?
And in the meantime:
Iran given extra time for new nuclear talks

The European Union (EU) agreed on Saturday to give Iran extra time, probably two weeks, to clarify ambiguity on its nuclear response to a package of incentives.
The decision was made during talks on the issue among 25 EU foreign ministers in Lappeenranta, southern Finland, on Saturday, two days after the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported that Iran had failed to meet the UN deadline of Aug. 31 to halt uranium enrichment.
The ministers reiterated their full support for EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana, who will hold talks with Iran's chief nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani early next week to clarify ambiguity on Iran's nuclear response to the offer of incentives by the world's six major powers.
In its 21-page response to the offer by Britain, China, France, Russia, the United States and Germany, Iran refused to stop enrichment but said it was ready for more talks.
Diplomats said the EU ministers wanted to give diplomacy another chance before any sanctions were imposed on Iran, although Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Saturday that Iran would not give up its right to nuclear technology.
Annan: UN won't stop Iran.
It'll be a shock when Syria accidentally bombs all Iranian nuclear facilities IMO.
Something will happen for sure.
I think that's a fancier jacket than he started out with
He wears that jacket all the time...hell I even saw him in a grey Members Only jacket a few months ago.
Kofi, the world awaits your response.
"I'm gonna count to 5 and you better be over here by then. 1...2.......3.............4..................4.5...........4.75..........Ok I'm really serious you better come this second!"
So how much is my kick back going to be to keep this issue stalled at the UN?
So we can dump tons of money into this inept, corrupt and failing institution and in return member countries can stab us in the back?
This dictator must have taken lessons fron the Clintons. STALLMASTERS elite, the Clintoons made an ART of STALLING.
