James P. Hoffa, president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, called for tighter U.S. border control yesterday, saying the country must stop illegal immigration so it can focus on the undocumented aliens already here. "We have to control our borders," Mr. Hoffa said in an interview in Detroit. "Let's stop for a while, so that we can basically take a breath and find out what we do with the people that are here."

It's in organized labors interest to stop illegals here depressing wages, working under the tables, and more importantly not paying union dues for those under the table jobs.

Too bad the mafia still wasn't in control of most labor unions, then we would stand a better chance of getting this illegal imigration thing taken care of.

Not all unions are in favor of deporting illegals. A number of them wish to unionize them, in fact.

Only reason Hoffa is for this is the "Super Highway" stuff. I'm sure he figures that he can use it to stop Mex (read non-union) drivers.

You would THINK this was the case, but in fact it's the opposite. Union leadership is salivating at the idea of legalizing the 20 million illegals working here. They know that latinos are much more accepting of corruption and greed by people in power. They see 20 million low-skill latinos as a gold mine for unionizing.

TRANSLATION: "Let's stop a while and legalize the 20 million we already have. Once we've signed them all up as union members, we can throw open the borders again."

The union bigs care only about getting dues and votes from their members. They don't give a damn about worker wages. If they can get $10 a month from 20 million illegals versus $20 a month from 3 million American union members they will pick the illegals. And that also gives them control of 20 million votes from illiterate aliens who will fill in the ballot exactly as they tell them.

It is in the interest of this nation, including labor, to stop and deport illegal aliens.
