About 12 years ago I lost a baby at almost six months. I had to be delivered after I knew the baby had died. I had eaten at a Burger King in New York state; I had food poisoning. The baby died. I was overcome with guilt-if I had not eaten there etc. For a number of days, weeks perhaps months, I had to take it one hour at a time. I did not look ahead into the black hole my life had become. I just concentrated on one hour. The hour became two hours and then one day. Eventually, I pulled myself out of that dark place little by little. It took time; I didn't do it alone. God was by my side. I saw a counselor. Sometimes, I woke up and it was like the first day, and I had to start again. I did it though and so can you. Break the days into little pieces. Don't face whatever you are facing in its entirety one hour at a time and then one day at a time as your stength increases. Take small steps and remember none of us walk alone.

I am so sorry for your loss. You bring up very good points about the minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day survival process that is crucial to getting through crisis and overcoming addiction.

Wow, thanks for sharing your story. You give good advice to those in pain, thanks. We do not solve these issues all at once, it is a process and it gets easier as time passes. I am sorry for your loss.

Thank you for sharing this sad story, and excellent advice. I just would like to add, that you had acted in a totally responsible and blameless manner. It should have been safe to eat at Burger King - the fast food places are regulated and have very high standards. But obviously, as we saw with the tragic plane crash this week, human error is always possible. You were entirely an innocent victim.

Am so sorry for the loss of your baby. Have been in one of those dark places. You are much stronger than I would have been. Prayers for you.
