GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip Two FOX News journalists were released by their kidnappers Sunday, nearly two weeks after they were taken hostage in the Gaza Strip.
Steve Centanni, 60, and Olaf Wiig, 36, left Gaza and have since crossed into Israel after their release. The men left Gaza through the Erez border crossing.
The freeing of Centanni, a correspondent, and Wiig, a cameraman, ends the longest-running drama involving foreign hostages in Gaza.
The two journalists were dropped off at Gaza City's Beach Hotel by Palestinian security officials and appeared to be in good health. A tearful Centanni embraced a Palestinian journalist briefly as he entered, then rushed upstairs as Wiig followed.
Centanni, in a phone interview shortly after his release, said "I'm fine. I'm just so happy to be free."
He recounted how he and Wiig were pulled out of their car on August 14 and taken at gunpoint into another car. The kidnappers blindfolded them and handcuffed their hands behind their backs with plastic ties. They were then transferred to another car and driven to a building that they later learned was a garage.
"We were pushed down onto the dirt-covered concrete floor and we were forced to lie face down with our handcuffs on," Centanni said.
"Olaf was in the same room with me. Our shoulders were wrenched back, very painful."
Both of the men were forced to convert to Islam at gunpoint, Centanni said.
"We were forced to convert to Islam at gunpoint," Centanni told FOX News. "Don't get me wrong here. I have the highest respect for Islam, and I learned a lot of good things about it, but it was something we felt we had to do because they had the guns, and we didn't know what the hell was going on."

What's that song, 'you've got to stand for something or you'll fall for anything?
Then the moderate Muslims get on TV and say this is not what they are doing.
"That one guy was 60 years old. He doesn't have that long left in this world one way or another."
You are a silly person. Really. Do you even bother to think before you write? How old are your parents?
Here it is.
Luke 12:8-9 "Also I say to you, whoever confesses Me before men, him the Son of Man also will confess before the angels of God. 9 But he who denies Me before men will be denied before the angels of God. NKJV
"Dead men walking."
Thats right....the muzzlim equivalent of Omerta.
Do a little more reading. Peter was also crucified,,, Upside Down.
"Do a little more reading. Peter was also crucified,,, Upside Down."
Yes, he was, and he was also the founder of the church. It is one thing for Peter to be martyred, and quite another for some newspaper reporter to get shot over this.
My point was that Jesus did not condemn Peter for renouncing him. Not at all. I know Peter's fate.
I guess you failed to not that the only interview we've seen with him post-release was at a staged photo op with a Palestinian politician WHILE STILL IN GAZA. I would neither call that safe nor a setting in which to speak openly and rip Islam.
How about we all wait a few days for the real story to come out before judging, condemning him, and using these hostages to push various agendas? Just a thought. There aren't any brownie points for being the first to scream about the sacrilege of Jesus healing on the Sabbath....
"failed to not" = "failed to note"
And I think you have a lot to learn about God and His mercy.
but they would most likely start killing eachother after that. lol
I go a little beyond that.....
I would think that when faced with it, the well-being of their families were a major part of their decision. It's easy to romanticize it and equate onesself with the early martyrs, but if you're not going to see your daughter/son/wife again if you make "the wrong" choice, it's not so crystal clear.
Or how about I call it as I see it? I see Centanni right now as someone I wouldn't trust because of what he did--at gunpoint to be sure, but I also believe the times are here when many of us will be called to show courage, both in action and words. Would I have the courage to do the right thing? I don't know. To date, I haven't been called upon to decide. If I do the cowardly thing, I'm sure I'll be judged, both on earth and in Heaven.
There are no moderate moslems because there is no moderate koran....
Try reading the Bible--or see some of the quotes on this thread.
If we ALL convert to islam then renounce the cult, what would happen then? Would they try to kill us all?
I really wish that the lot of you who condemn these guys could have changed places with them.
Next time there are hostages, please feel free to trade yourselves for their freedom.
We'll be watching..........
