Just so you know: the name "35" means that the runway is oriented at 350 degrees from magnetic north. That way, when a pilot is lined up with a runway, he can look at his compass or directional indicator to figure out which runway it is. Makes it a lot easier than trying to read the numbers on the runway, particularly in bad weather, to see which runway is which.

That's why changing the names of the runways is not likely to happen.

"thirty-five romeo" and "thirty-five lima" aren't similar.
But then LEX doesn't have parallel runways, so that doesn't seem to be a factor today.
