Bob Dole is a thousand times the man that Pat could ever hope to be.

Bob Dole WAS a man. He was personally responsible for the caving during the govt shutdown of the '94 congress. I also believe that the term limits amendment, passed in the House, came within a whisker of passing in the Senate. It was defeated in part because of Bob (lets make a deal) Dole. He is now a registered lobbyist, for a foreign govt. In my book, he has soldout for the big bucks. It is not uncommon for young men that act valiantly in battle, to lose it in their later years. Look at Murtha!

Of course I could be wrong about the term limits, but if memory serves me well, I am not.

I had the honor of having dinner with Pat on one occasion and we got to talking about Iraq and Iran. Pat told me quite plainly that he would pull out of Iraq and use the monetary savings to bribe the Iranian government not to develop atomic weapons.

I argued that we should continue fighting in Iraq and encourage revolution in Iran. He had no receptivity to such approaches.

The idea that we would give the Iranian clerical government millions of dollars in bribes to "not build nuclear weapons" is an audacious interpretation of the Iranian government's basis for global goodwill.

Here again as others have noticed it seems a suspicious blindspot for the transparent reality that only Israel would get wiped of the map in such a scenario so 'why not be realist about it?' Why is Israel such a fantastic trash receptacle for neo-isolationists like Pat? It looks suspiciously anti-semitic.

I am pretty fed up with such bogus reasoning and Pat is at the forefront of such thinking. He has now taken to engaging in very public attacks on a President at war. He should reap what he has now sown.

Hillary care was stopped by protesters in Seattle. She came to this town in a celebratory mood to speak before a fundraiser, and was roundly booed by FReepers and others. It was the end of her attempt at visibly influencing politics during her hubbys rain...rein... errr .....reign. She complained about it in a book, and to a media acolyte.

Nonsense! In his farewell address Washington exhorted his countrymen to "avoid foreign entanglements", this is what Pat and his (few) supporters on this forum desire for the USA, despite the exhortations of the "cosmpolitans" (i.e Wilsonians) on these boards. In fact, up until 1898 (when the USA kicked itself out of an Eden of sorts by succumbing to empire-building) we existed quite happily as Pat would want us to.
