My thoughts also. I think the media has worn down
most of POTUS supporters, inclding the wieners on this
site. Anyone who can se a Dem. in his chair...is asking
for a miserable time in this country..as they have no
sense of the country and the present day needs...of
which abortion is an abomination and they delight in
the slaughtering of these innocent babies..Jake
Well, the president feels exceptions should be made in cases of rape and I am pleased to stand with him on this.
And if, as you stated, rape so rarely results in conception, then no one should have any concerns about the president's position.
Anyway, we'll have to agree to disagree. That's what the Republican party is all about -- it's a big tent party.
And I meant to mention, I didn't mean to be so snippy in my reply earlier. Sorry.
If anything, it will prevent some of that(abortions), which I find unethical.
I see no ethical problems with this.
I assume those who think that birth control is unethical would have the same feeling on this issue, but most do not.
Post conceptive birth control is a form of infanticide, Bush cannot finesse that fact and he cannot parse it. It is what is and that is not something which seems consistent with his stance on stem cell research. For this, I am saddened and further disappointed.
I never have had a problem with the language about exceptions for rape, precisely because I know that it is a near impossibility. In fact, I'd love to see legislation that says all abortions are illegal except in cases of rape. That would suit the right-to-life group nicely.
I still agree with you most of the time.
Do you actually believe that it's better for the girl to take an active role and become a perpetrator of evil rather than simply work through the issues involved in having been a victim of evil; to promote more evil on top of evil?
And, how is it that you do not think that to bear the child would be to receive "beauty for ashes"; to have a blessing in place of a curse; to commit a deeply loving and personal act of redemption on behalf of an helpless and innocent one?
You are arguing that killing the victim's child is an appropriate course of action, here. How did the child become culpable to the point of deserving a death sentence? The child wasn't even in existence at the time, so how is it that you impute some blood-guilt for which it must die?
I have seven children; four living. I have known the heights of joy and the heart-wrenching depths of human sorrow. I know the value of human life, and I tell you that all the wealth of the nations cannot move the balance when set against the life of just ONE of my children.
I have two families that are close friends; one who endured the tragedy of rape, and the other who was blessed with being given the chance to adopt the beautiful life that was born out of that tragedy. Out of shame and humiliation came true beauty and great joy and blessing to everyone. Great adversity was overcome with great love.
I highly recommend a ground-up reassessment of your position; there is untold good that you have overlooked.
Ooohh.. nicely done. Bravo.
Just don't vote for him anymore......
Besides, your understanding of just how this medication works, needs a bit of work.
It fouls up the ovulation cycle in its entirety, so most conceptions will never occur. In the rare case that one would, then it might not implant, but that is not really the main effect of the pill.
It is more like the standard birth control pill in it's effect, but it is a morning after birth control pill.
The implantation effect is also a side effect of a birth control regimen.
ESCR=?
I don't condone this decision at all. However, it is important to note that many "contraceptives" already do what Plan B does. To not oppose all of them is hypocrisy. And this hypocrisy is rampant in both Christian and right to life circles.
IMO, the circumstances you describe are far from universal in this day and age. I'd tend to think they were rare, more than common. IMO.
The use of this kind of hyperbole is why I detest what most of these threads become, and the people who drive them into the dirt, each and every time the subject is discussed.
There is no point in using it, and you only drive the wedge in tighter and deeper.
Disgusting crap.....But then I have opinions on most everything......
Yes it does, which is why it is considered back-up contraception. The JP insititue for life and family has documentation proving this as does Human Life International and all other right to life organizations. This is why they opposed it.
It is also why Catholic hospitals were forbidden to prescribe it to rape victims, if they were unable to determine if the vicim had ovulated or not.
Sounds good.
Just how big a tent do you want it to be? Obviously this tent is leaving some of us out in the rain.
Thank you.
When you actually know what the Church teaches, and why, the uncompromising beauty of the truth is overwhelming.
Is it back up if a woman takes 2 birth control pills after having unprotected sex because the woman missed the day before?
It has it's charm when raising children, which is precisely why I came here some 16 years ago.
I am just about done with the chore of raising youngsters, and I am ready to rest for a long time.
The Grand Kids only stay a couple days....:-)
