Its pretty common Filipino superstition, in a superstitious nation. The "dwendes" are standard parts of that - these are not like Disney's seven dwarves. Consider them rather like animist nature spirits, associated with certain trees or other mystical places.
This sort of thing is also common in Japan (though they may believe it less). See Miyazakis movies for a full suite of animist folklore. Filipino folklore is no less rich.
I've had people tell me that they were cursed because theyed had a bad dream, all kinds of other things. Much less common in the city and among the educated, but you can never know.

A Philippines judge who said he consulted imaginary mystic dwarvesHe would be perfectly qualified to be a Clinton appointee to the US Supreme Court--so long as the dwarves advised him to ignore the Constitution and instead to focus on the mystic constitutional emanations and penumbras that alway agree with the ACLU, the teachers union, the trial lawyers, GSLEN, and NARAL.
Heck, Buzzy and Breyer, Souter and Stevens have been mystic dwarves for years.

I fail to see what the problem is. I have always consulted imaginary mystic dwarves prior to making any post to FR. It has always worked like a charm...

He told investigators three mystic dwarves - Armand, Luis and Angel - had helped him to carry out healing sessions during breaks in his chambers. Did any of them have prior convictions?
