snip - The child was diagnosed with a rare chromosomal disorder, known as cyclopia. She was born with a single eye in the center of her forehead, no nose and her brain fused into a single hemisphere. With such severe deformities, it was a miracle that the girl survived even a few minutes after delivery. Yet now, 11 days later, she has lived significantly longer than other cyclopean cases.-Snip

Poor kid.
It doesn't look good. But wouldn't it be great if she lived and lived a decent life (I don't kno if that's possible I admit). The pro-aborts wouldn't be happy.
Not disturbing at all.
Wow! Great job with the keywords!
When a kid is born, their life is the only one they've known. I don't know much about this kid either, but they can adapt to a relatively decent life, if the adequate tools are there. I hope they are.
You see a kid like that and realize how good you've had it. We're pretty lucky for the most part.
"Would you have given birth?"
Yes, absolutely. In my faith, we believe that one of the purposes of earthly existence is to get a physical body and that, no matter how defective the body in mortality, it will be perfected in the Resurrection. No matter how long the child lives, she will have made this step in her progression and eventually have that perfected body from her mortal parents as she goes to her eternal destiny.
I agree, but did not contribute. The others did a good job.
Wasn't me
Unfortunately it's not possible. It's amazing the child has survived even this long. I don't recall ever hearing of someone with cyclopia surviving beyond one week.
Even if the child somehow survived the physical problems, due to the nature of the deformity she would be living with massive brain damage that would preclude her from experiencing anything like a normal human life. The same thing that causes eye development to go so wrong affects brain development in an equally catastrophic way.
It's a sad case. I hope the baby is not aware of any suffering and is at peace.
Okay, I did add one.
I'll always remember that conversation.
Survival is the concern right now, I would think. She needs to be loved and held. Later, maybe reconstruction might be possible to some extent.
I doubt reconstruction is in the cards at all. I was speaking of destiny after she passes and is resurrected with a healed body as most Christians believe will happen eventually. That body will one day be perfect but not in this life.
Your father was wise. We don't know why some are born lucky and some are unlucky but we do know the Lord loves each one equally and will do justice in the long run. I was taught that those who die young are the best of the best of the Lord's children and that when we meet them in the hereafter, we will be in awe of their majesty and honor.
What's disturbing is that it was caused by a useless cancer drug.
I understood. We know the history of survival but we don't know God's plan for this child, yet. Physical apppearance or defects in a baby , while alarming to a parent , can be dealt with later. Right now, this little one need to be comforted, held, and loved, even if she is only to be with us for a short time. I pray this special baby has a special mother and father.
Poor thing. Can she see with that eye?
So do I. Or if her parents can't handle it, I pray she finds another loving family who will help her live her life to the fullest extent possible. Who knows what might happen? She is already surprising people.
