I disagree.

Did you ever, in your life, see a sign like that in the '60 or'70's?

That sign is the visible symbol of the "entitlement mindset" aka "Don't dare to upset or inconvenience me in the least little bit" aka "BREEDERS will be punished".

Children running wild at a store like Walmart, etc., holds other dangers--several have been abducted in our area over the years. How hard can it be to snatch a wee one when the parents aren't paying the least bit of attention to anything but their shopping?

the well-to-do parents won't tolerate the little darlings embarrassing them in public.

Neither will this low-brow beer-swilling Freeper. All four of my children behave in public, or understand that they really should have.

There's so many things that are right about it, it's hard to list them all.

They need Sir Topham Hatt to calm the children like he does to the engines.

"...supposedly"?? You know it, I know it, there are lots of overindulged brats out there that run their families. Also, there's too many people calling BOYS "young men" (and girls "young women/ladies"). They eventually will become such but FIRST they are boys and girls and need to behave or suffer the consequences.

I'm sorry but there are child appropriate situations just like adult oriented ones. Plenty of kids simply do not know how to behave in public and too many parents just expect everyone else to put up with their kids. When we were growing up, "No Touch" meant a slap on the hand for touching things after we were told no to. Nowadays it means Mommy and Daddy will just keep repeating themselves and God forbid anyone creates shame for a child. Kids belong at McDonalds, not upscale eateries.

Problem with this story was they chose an ambiguous example. Didn't sound to me like these kids were out of control. You provide a kid with a bunch of toys an you expect him to sit there and quitely admire them?

Parents in the 60s and 70s knew that they were expected to keep their children under proper control, hence, no such signs were necessary.

in my patented "Great and Terrible Oz" voice

My mother used the powerful "EYE" first. This could stop you dead in your tracks, even from a distance. My kids never were able to know my dear mom, but they understand the inherited power of the EYE and tremble.

Duh you old pervert.

Some "parents" get upset when I offer them the use of my belt.

Get a thrill just thinking about it don't ya?

Oh, baloney. My grand nieces and nephews don't scream in public, for the simple reason it's not accepted. If they try it, they get to stay home next time--or worse. Those who scream in public do it because they know they can get away with it.

"I mean c'mon.. She's from West Hollywood, shops at Whole Foods, is unmarried and calls parents "breeders"? "

Breeders indeed. I think everyone has an obligation to society to at least replace themself (breed) so that society can continiue. Homos contribute nothing to the continuation of society and look down on those that do.

While it is true that there are many ill-behaved children around, there are even more people, particularly in places like "California and Massachusetts", who just don't like the idea of the traditional family.

Pul-eeze. In traditional families children are to be seen and not heard. What all of us are starting to rage against is uncontrolled little brats whose parents think their kids are God's gift to the universe. It's the vestiges of Dr. Spock...God forbid you should interfere with you precious darlings emotional or social development by teaching them respect for the rights of others to be free from their outrageous tantrums or behavioral spectacles. Total lack of impulse control is a disease of a liberal culture. Self discipline and awareness for the needs of others is the "traditional value" that has been totally lost.

I'd also like to say they're only doing what their parents condone

Amen to that. I'd say 95% of the world's problems is bad parenting.
