You called?
NO problem.
If YOU know it, President Bush knows it. He likes the fact it was elected. Democratic processes offer a *** tiny sliver*** of hope in an otherwise bleak Middle East.
Apart from that, I would not want my tender ears to hear what he must be saying about them in private. The Tony Blair/open microphone thing would be a Sunday School Picnic by comparison...

August 22, 2006?
Yeah, if this one even lasts an hour.
Israel built their own nukes, starting and the '50s. They have been a nuclear power for half a century. And many of our scientists and mathematicians that developed the US bomb in the mid '40s were Jews that became Israelis. If they don't intend to occupy the land in question, a fusion bomb is clean enough to use.
Isaiah 17:1 The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.
Well....Christian Lebanese were "out breed, hence outvoted"...the Muslim SOWS, were having 6-10 kids every generation, while the Christian were having 1-3 kids...and then there was the Womens' Liberation Movement....
That is because Hezbollah and the Lebanese forces are one and the same, all on the same side with the same purpose. Syria has controlled Lebanon for years and they control the regular government while Iran controls a shadow government in the form of Hezbollah. The militaries of each are run by the same people.
This truce is another's fool's game by timid politicians.
Need to add No Seinfeld on the bad side.
If the slimes have soo little appreciation of life and laughter that they would willingly slaughter the crew of Seinfeld, then they are truly in league with satan!
Wasn't that in 1559?
"war, has been played over and over and over and over and over again since 1947".
More like since about 1947 B.C., actually;)
Except that time marches onward. But the Biblical clock started ticking down when Israel was created in one day according to prophesy on May 14th 1948. The Bible clearly indicates that the generation shall not pass away before all the end time prophesies come to pass. The question is...how long is a Biblical generation? Plainly it is longer than 20 years. But I have seen writings of important end time scholars who say it is more likely to be somewhere in the neighborhood of 60-85 years. In which case, human history is drawing to a close....at least the timeline wherein mankind is in charge. That's just my .02, though.
Sure was but I'm curious whether it's called out in the new agreement. I think that is important even though we all know that there was no real effort to enforce 1559. But things are different now - Israel is on the doorstep and we have a new resolution. I don't think 1559 is really operative because of this unless it is specifically called out in the new resolution.
It's more than just population growth. Civilized people just don't do well among depraved barbarians.
If Lebanon refuses to help disarm the Hezzies, that UN resolution should not be respected by anyone, especially not by Israel. The resolution is just a distraction from the war, which will continue until the Hezzies are wiped out, hopefully.
"Has anything from the UN ever been any different? Working through them is a total waste of time and effort."
No wonder Clinton never bothered with them when he bombed Kosovo etc.
"OP3. Emphasizes the importance of the extension of the control of the government of Lebanon over all Lebanese territory in accordance with the provisions of resolution 1559 (2004) and resolution 1680 (2006), and of the relevant provisions of the Taif Accords, for it to exercise its full sovereignty, so that there will be no weapons without the consent of the government of Lebanon and no authority other than that of the government of Lebanon;"
Here's the link to the thread with the text of the new resolution:
Jonathan Hunt in Beirut is reporting that Hezbollah will not agree to disarm and the Lebanon government is saying they won't attempt to disarm the Hezbullies, at least not before the international forces get there. Back to the drawing board kids.
This force deployment has several advantages all means of escape and resupply to the Hezbollah in southern Lebanon are blocked. If a large portion of Hezbollah are trapped in this box they must sooner or later attack to get food or starve to death.
It is one thing to be a defensive force. Hezbollah has trained extensively on defensive strategies. They can hide in holes and tunnels and come out to kill Israeli Troops. They can fire rockets and missiles. But they have not the force size or the weapons to conduct an offensive war.
The situation is reversed. It is Hezbollah who must attack and they have little or no skills in this area. The IDF gets to play defense. But the IDF has 30,000 troops. And it takes 3 times as many troops to attack as it does to defend. But Hezbollah has 1/24 the number of troops to make a successful attacking force.
Sooner or later Hezbollah will get so hungry they must either surrender or attack. Their supplies of ammunition will be limited. The routes of resupply are closed. They have to go through a huge Israeli force to get supplies... They must attack with out enough forces or the right kind of weapons to successfully attack.
There is no way to resupply. Not from the north.. there are Israeli troops. Not from the south, the east or west. They are surrounded.
If I am right, the Members of the potential UN peace keeping force will keep saying to each other.... you first .. no you first ... for a month or two. The Lebanese army will just sits on its rump waiting to hold a meeting. While that is going on Israel can kill and disarm a huge amount of Hezbollah. All of it in Southern Lebanon.
The most likely strategy for Hezbollah would be to try to attack from the north across the river. To make a whole from which at least some of their forces could escape. But that is not likely to result in anthing except more Hezbollah deaths.
I would expect that Israel will not allow any reporters inside this box. And I suspect that few if any reporters get too far from from the capital of Lebanon. It may be a while before we know exactly what is taking place. But getting supplies from Syria... is only useful if Hezbollah choses to attack.
It the next few days may not be as disasterous as we might have thought at first glance.
