There are other ways to detonate explosives.
Yeah but they would have to completely regroup and probably wouldn't have time to do what they planned.
I'm not saying it will stop all of it, but it has become obvious that they are using that method. Why continue to make it easy for them?
Why not just remove all forms of security in America, and let everyone defend him/herself? Where would you draw the line?

But if we know they are using this particular device to do it - stop it / them.

Same reason we now watch who / how much fertilizer is bought. We never used to do that. Until a bad guy showed up.
I'm all for it. Stop the sale of "works right now / disposable cell phones. Perhaps your "rights" - convenience ? - may have to get tweaked a bit.
