I was one of those kids. On a bright note, Art Linkletter is still alive, and doing pretty well.

He used to have this earthy vitamin guy on all the time...Dirk something or other. I wish I could remember his last name. Be neat to see if all that vitamin pop'n in the 70's extended his life.Any way, you're right. It was a friendly show.

Great show, clean, wholesome. Nothing like it on TV today.
Rest in peace Mr. Douglas. Thanks for the memories.

I though Mike Douglas was an excellent host. He allowed the guests to shine. He was completely unaffected and did a terrific job of bringing out their true personalities. I'll never forget his interviews with Orson Welles and Zsa-Zsa Gabor.
Also, he was quite a prolific producer of game shows--a genius.

Kids came home to Mike Douglas after school. It was a friendly show.Indeed it was. Now the kids come home to violent, ugly, screaming "cartoons" and equally as violent and ugly video games. We're raising a generation of killers. Who was it that said "you are what you eat".
