Can a good Muslim be a good American?
A friend who knows | 8/11/2006 | Agent Smith

Posted on 08/11/2006 6:36:37 AM PDT by Agent Smith

I ask my fellow freepers indulgence for this vanity, because I believe it is too important to be buried in the back of the forum.

Can a good Muslim be a good American? I sent that question to a friend who worked in Saudi Arabia for 20 years.

The following is his reply:

Theologically - no. Because his allegiance is to Allah, the moon god of Arabia.

Religiously - no. Because no other religion is accepted by his Allah except Islam (Quran, 2:256)

Scripturally - no. Because his allegiance is to the five pillars of Islam and the Quran (Koran).

Geographically - no. Because his allegiance is to Mecca, to which he turns in prayer five times a day.

Socially - no. Because his allegiance to Islam forbids him to make friends with Christians or Jews.

Politically - no. Because he must submit to the mullah (spiritual leaders), who teach annihilation of Israel and Destruction of America, the great Satan.

Domestically - no. Because he is instructed to marry four women and beat and scourge his wife when she disobeys him (Quran 4:34).

Intellectually - no. Because he cannot accept the American Constitution since it is based on Biblical principles and he believes the Bible to be corrupt.

Philosophically - no. Because Islam, Muhammad, and the Quran do not allow freedom of religion and expression. Democracy and Islam cannot co-exist. Every Muslim government is either dictatorial or autocratic.

Spiritually - no. Because when we declare "one nation under God," the Christian's God is loving and kind, while Allah is NEVER referred to as heavenly father, nor is he ever called love in The Quran's 99 excellent names.

Therefore after much study and deliberation...perhaps we should be very suspicious of ALL MUSLIMS in this country. They obviously cannot be both "good" Muslims and good Americans. Call it what you wish...it's still the truth. The more who understand this, the better it will be for our country and our future. The war is bigger than most Americans know or understand.

That's truly disturbing ... nearly half of alleged Christians in the United States put their Earthly citizenship ahead of their Heavenly citizenship. They claim to be worshipping the Lord God Almighty ... in fact, they're worshipping the United States Congress. Pathetic.

God is First. Always.

You have it correct, and the previous poster does not!

Thank you and I will shamelessly use it myself. With some additional documentation, references, sources, this will be irrefutable.

This proposal is so un-Constitutional as to be ludicrous, and it makes me sad that posters on a site devoted to freedom would advocate it.

Just folks wanting a fast definitive solution to a hideously complex problem. The fact that our enemies use our freedoms and technologies against us doesn't help matters.

Anyone who is slavish to their God, mullah or priest is not to be confused with the vast majority of Christians, Jews, Muslims, Shintoists, Budhists who are more socially advanced and open their hearts and minds to reason and dignity.

This is probably the best description of religious extremism I've read yet. May I borrow it?

No one who is "slavish" to God is going to pay attention to someone advocating violence against other people or imposing his will on other people.

You find Christians, Catholics, even American Catholics, who believe in monarchy, in the imposition of the Catholic faith on Americans as the "state religion" as "the Social Kingship of Christ", and the removal of the right of other faiths to even gather in worship.

Even worse, they believe that, unless you're a physical member of the Catholic Church, you will end up in hell.

This is all nonsense, of course, but there are refugees from FR who gather at another website who believe all these things and will insist that everybody who doesn't believe as they do are not even Catholic.

And, you are right on. The key is the use of reasonableness as the standard.

If a particular form of religious expression does not seem reasonable, it likely isn't.

The answer is we could do it. We just would not be America anyore. I thought we were conservatives and feared excessive governent power.

islam is ant-American. It's anti-self determination and anti-free thought and anti-free speech. When one becomes a moslem they check their brain at the mosque door.

islam is more of a form of government than anything else. It has it's own taxing and insurance system. It has it's own law and court system. And the imams run everything. It's a cancer and stands against everything the United States of America was founded on. By it's construct it would do away with all forms of government other than Sharia and any other form of religion.

I learned all of this on 9/12 after just some brief reading about islam. To see how islam works in the real world all I had to do is go here.

islam is for weak minded people that want to be cattle. It also attracts sociopaths that gravitate to it so they can fulfill their desires to violently control and kill others. islam condones and promotes criminal activity.

Considering the history of islam and especially events caused by islam in recent years at some point we will have to decide if we want mosques everywhere or nowhere.

I'm not even sure what a good American is, let alone a good Muslim. By any but the most general standards, most Americans aren't even good Americans.

I know people who are culturally Muslim, but not devoutly. And yes, they are good Americans.

There are people who are nominally Muslims because four, five or ten generations back, an ancestor chose to convert rather than die or see his wife and daughters raped, then killed. Now, many of these are lapsed Muslims.

My advice to them is to honor the sacrifice of their ancestors and leave Islam immediately. Islam is death. Unless they are devout, they should recoil in horror and shame. It's most likely that they don't know the human cost of what has happened to their families over the years that they remain blind to the truth, and trapped by inertia.

If any one knows of such people, please, we have a duty to try to bring them out of their benighted condition. I'm not necessarily saying that they have to be converted to Christianity. Perhaps they would be more comfortable reverting to the religion that was that of their ancestors before Arab cultural imperialism robbed them of their heritage.

But, ANYTHING is better than Islam.

If you watched FNC this morning, you saw them interview neighbors of some of the arrested Muslim terrorists. This man was going on about how good these young men were. They never caused any problems. Hmmmm It sound just like your comment.

Rounding up German and Japanese Americans during WWII was anathema to it too but done because it was necessary.

As a Christian I'd have to confess that I would fail on the first two accounts as well. My first allegiance is to God (not the moon god, but the real one), and the truth is that there is only one God and Jesus said He was the way, the truth and the light...no one comes to the Father except by Him. That being said, my faith does not require (or even permit) me to commit any sort of violence toward anyone of any other faith...in fact I'm commanded to love my neighbor.

Isn't there an oath one takes when he or she begins US military service where they pledge alligence to the USA? And if they do, isn't that directly opposed to the muslim law?

"I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

You decide.

I've always contended that it is the 80% worldwide who give the 20% a bad name. In the United States, I think the odds may actually break a little better in our favor, something between 60-40 and 40-60. The point is we need to separate the wheat from the tares and it shouldn't be that hard.

The FBI has basically finished off white supremecist groups by infiltrating the worst elements like the KKK and working downward. The same effort should be applied to mosques.

Islam will survive only if it undergoes a reformation. There are passages in the Old Testament where the beleivers are commanded to wipe out the unbeleivers. Nobody in Chritianity or Judaism sees these as modern day instructions anymore. Muslims will, as a whole, have to reach the same level of tolerance in interpreting comparable passages in the Koran.
