There is definitely a resurgence of British or English patriotism that I have not seen before in my lifetime. We are usually very good at putting ourselves down and criticizing and thinking of others as better but more and more I see ordinary Brits (English) wanting to be British/English and be proud of it.

This is a good and encouraging outcome, snugs. I imagine folks of your dad's generation are stunned to find Britain under a new threat, different from but equal to the one faced by your brave country during WWII.

Yes and no because I can always remember my dad telling me when I was a child the threat of the Islam so IMHO many of the older people probably understand it better than people of my generation or younger.
