I think in fact they would wait for planes to reach land and then trigger an explosion that would drop over the city like rain of metal to increase the damage of the event.
I don't think they had any intent to be stealth over the ocean, that is illogical and makes no sense. But what do I know?
Chertoff saying that the current threat to planes can not be completely ruled out.. orange level for incoming planes.
Having multiple flights blow up over the ocean simultaneously would be impossible to cover-up by the government. Doing this for arrivals would be much iffier as factors contribute to changing schedules (backed up traffic at destination airport, bad weather enroute)
I agree. Having it on TV to be played over and over again is important to them.
