t all started with just one contested image, brought to light by bloggers: In the original picture, thin smoke can be seen rising over Beirut after a recent Israeli air strike; in the published photograph, thick, black smoke billows. "The photographer has denied deliberately attempting to manipulate the image, saying that he was trying to remove dust marks and that he made mistakes due to the bad lighting conditions he was working under," said Moira Whittle, the head of public relations for Reuters, on Sunday.

I did a title search and didn't see this posted. If it's a duplicate, I apologize..

This scandal is proof that the MSM is totally clueless about just how fast people can fact-check in the modern Internet age. They still haven't learned from the Rathergate fiasco.

he was trying to remove dust marksLOL! What a lame excuse! I've got a bridge to sell.....

saying that he was trying to remove dust marks and that he made mistakes due to the bad lighting conditions he was working under That isn't going to fly! He needs to take his cue from certain senior American journalists and claim that the smoke was darker before but he couldn't get his camera out so he had to modify the later photo and thus the photograph was "fake but accurate".

Trying to remove dust marks by adding black billowing clouds? Can't even lie well.

I should try that "bad lighting" excuse the next time i drop trow in front of a date. Roiders News Agency just proved they are incapable of editorial control and is permissive of terrorsist propaganda. Add them to the list of terrorist sympathizers and to the Enemies of Freedom list.

If some pajamahadeen can figure out the photo has been doctored, the editor should be able to... That would imply the editor wanted to....

Hah Hah!
Surely even Al Reuters doesn't belive their own BS.
As for the moonbat "Editor and Publisher" the less said about those suckers the better.
They are simply beyond the pale.

Actually, that's not what I meant but that works as well. I was attempting to convey the idea that they are like a person on steroids aka 'roids (being artificially inflated; fake). Thank you!

Hajj's entire portfolio of 900-plus photos at Reuters has been pulled.
I guess they're scared s**tless that the New Media will find a whole slew of other "Reutered" photos.

Re: Reuters: Is this not a THIRD?
The ?third-doctored picture was by the same notorious "photographer"
and has the same distinctive smoke pattern. Does it not, FReepers?

My two cents would be that those are pasted pics. There is no way that the air would be so crystal clear around Mahmoud walking in the pic if the building was destoryed thusly and still in a dark smoke burn. Hell, a housefire in my neighborhood filled the air with haze.
