On Sunday, Reuters removed the retouched picture from its catalogue and replaced it with the originalWouldn't the possession of the original imply that perhaps the PhotoShopping was done at Reuter's office rather than by the photographer ?
Ooooooh, busted.

No, I believe that's what they claimed regarding the Reuters employee who sent a death threat to LGF...
I thought al-Reuters intially claimed the photographer didn't work in their "news" division.

"Reuters withdraws photograph of Beirut after Air Force attack after US blogs, photographers point out blatant evidence of manipulation. Reuters head of PR says in response, Reuters has suspended photographer until investigations are completed into changes made to photograph. Photographer who sent altered image is same Reuters photographer behind many of images from Qana, which have also been subject of suspicions for being staged.
Yaakov Lappin, August 6, 2006 Jerusalem Post
So, his 'suspension' may just be temporary -- until the 'investigation' is complete (or until the ruckus dies down).

"Oops! SORRY!
We "forgot" to review our own photos!"
[for OBVIOUS fabrications]
"VERY serious. We're sorry. Investigation underway, blahblah."
If Bush's Admin did this, he'd be toast, front page news etc. Too bad the MSM doesn't give ITSELF the same careful, months-long, long lingering treatment. They fire the photog, & "So what? Whater YOU lookin at, Let's move on!," no higher up heads will fall, etc.
Double standard - YES

It is official now. The Worlds MSM has become the Tabloids. When are congressional committee investigators going to stop citing MSM stories as evidence during hearings ?
