Excerpt -
~ snip ~Reuters said that it has fired Adnan Hajj, the Lebanese photographer who submitted the image. The organization also said that it is investigating the incident.
"The photographer has denied deliberately attempting to manipulate the image, saying that he was trying to remove dust marks and that he made mistakes due to the bad lighting conditions he was working under," said Moira Whittle, the head of public relations for Reuters.
"This represents a serious breach of Reuters' standards and we shall not be accepting or using pictures taken by him," Whittle said in a statement issued in London.
Hajj worked for Reuters as a non-staff freelance, or contributing photographer, from 1993 until 2003 and again since April 2005.

I smell BS.
Ah, yes, Adnan Hajj - the same Islamic propagandist who photographed the staged idiocy at Qana.
LMAO
NEWS FLASH:
CBS has hired a new photographer for its news staff.
Adnan Hajj will start work tomorrow.
He is the one who shot this photo.
I will bet you it gets photo of the year by the media.
If this doesn't prove outright just how stupid they truly think the public is, I don't know what would.
How about the photo editor/s who let it go?
Every time I see that shot, I think the guy's auctioning off dead babies. It just looks that way.
Traveling troupe of Players?
We have the Qana gaggle of photogs, Mr Green Helmet and his men and now the wailing old lady:
2 pics of the same woman on two different days one by AP , one by Reuters, in which she is bewailing the loss of her home(s).

AP and Reuters and AFP wholly owned subsidiaries of Hezbollah.
LOL--is this the high-falutin' "journalist" way of saying his dog ate his homework?
The photographer lies as good as he photoshops.
In today's world, virtually all professionals use digital cameras which (obviously) don't require dust removal in post-processing. This is a ridiculous excuse.
Isn't 'Tourist Guy' in there somewhere?

Wouldn't the possession of the original imply that perhaps the PhotoShopping was done at Reuter's office rather than by the photographer ?
LOL ~
