When one plea bargains to a sex crime and having to register as a sex offender you can bet your ass he was in real serious trouble and at that point doing what he could to avoid a trial and time in a Texas prison.

Jon is an admitted sexual predator of children!

Sad, and for you to think the cops might have used a little girl in a live setup is bizarre.

Wasn't he on 97Rock in the Moby years?

Yes. Moby & Matthews in the morning. It was the best show in town (IMHO).

"Those of you who have listened to my radio show and read my newspaper columns over the years know how strong a supporter I was of our criminal justice system. I can only say how misguided I was. Our criminal justice system is not based on justice, it is a quota system where conviction is the only scorecard," he said.

From one 'satisfied' cutomer to another: welcome to the system, Jon.

I know the difference.
I also know the similarities: Both child molestation and prostitution are illegal.
The point is moot, however, since democrat congresspersons are rarely prosecuted for anything.

Sometimes I loved this guy and sometimes I hated him.

He was often pretty edgy with his discussion (not that is ANY kind of indicator). Remember when he would talk about "moving the furniture"?

Anyway, what a drag, the internet has given a lot of people a chance to explore their darker side. Once you start "fantasizing" with any level of expression involved it's a slippery slope right to experimentation at the edge. It's like dope. You just keep looking for the bigger "taboo" high.

He plead, like it or not, so he did it. I am sure he feels like because of the brevity of his exposure that it was wrong to prosecute him in the first place.

I don't know how smart it is to try to make someones sentence based on staying away from "obscene" material. Sounds a little like "thought crimes" to me.

This second trip around, does look like a set up. About the only way to nab him must have been with an email and a link.

"They put in brash loudmouths from outta town (and one had to change his spoken politics from lib to conservative). "

I heard this was the case but I never narrowed it down to who. Who?

The Dread Boston Salty used to get visits from the neighborhood kids, who wanted to get Boston kisses and pet him so he wiggled. But they were all probably between six and ten, and they just stood at the front door with us.

He kind of wiggles whether you pet him or not.

Well KTRH is calling him an "independent conservative" (he got dropped from KPRC, where he followed Rush Limbaugh). KTRH was considered to be an "apolitical" news station.
Chris Baker arrived in Houston over four years ago, and his strong opinions and quick wit have made his show the most listened-to in town.

Chris is an independent conservative, who's not afraid to take on both Republicans and Democrats. The show is commonly referred to as the "50,000-watt real-time think tank" where the experts are real, working Americans.

Consistently rated among the top radio shows in Houston, "The Chris Baker Show" is not always about politics - it’s often about things "topical, relevant and entertaining" to the radio audience - things that happen in your life, things that you see, hear, touch, and things that you talk about with your friends.

Chris has been nominated as Radio & Records magazine's major market "Talk Host of the Year" for the past two years, he's won the March of Dimes "Air Award" as "Best Talk Host" in Houston, and has been named the Houston Radio Society's "Entertainer of the Year."

Chris is married to his best friend, and is father to upcoming rock stars, race car drivers, crime-fighting superheroes, baseball and football superstars, comedians, sword fighters, Power Rangers, and cat-chasing boys, ages 5 and 3.

Hardly Hard-Core

The other side: Chris Baker may be "right-wing" in his current incarnation, but he is not "hard-core" ["Debate Club," Hair Balls, as told to Rich Connelly, July 6]. He came to town as a hard-core liberal, a watered-down Howard Stern wannabe. When it became apparent that wasn't going to fly on AM radio, he became a "conservative" talk show host. Maybe that's why he had difficulty defending a position in which he doesn't believe.

I had been wondering about Jon recently. So sorry to hear this. A faithful listener to him back in Houston, I heard him over the internet when possible after I moved to southern California (even brought him a Reagan Library coaster for his desk on a hometown visit). Clearly he wasn't as religious as Dan or the other folks on there, but I usually agreed with him. When I mention to people that I I "rearranged furniture" while redecorating my house, I still laugh, remembering Jon's famous phrase.

Well,

Chris is another one of those who is all over the map.

I don't see where he was ever a hard core liberal. I'm not a fan of his show but he is VERY funny if you ask me.

Has he changed positions on things or just styles?

I tell you, MikeReagan is the number one guy I miss on the radio.

I hate to sound paranoid, but....you can't just leave your door unlocked any more like in the good ole days. Instead of a 10-11 year old girl, it could just as easily be a thug with a 44, bent to rob you (or worse). My boss had a black guy walk right into his garage (in Alief) while he was in the process of loading his truck with equipment. The guy pretended to ask directions, and then pulled a 44 out of his baggy pants. Took a brand new cell phone and his wallet, ran off down the street where an accomplice was waiting in a car. Now my boss wears a loaded czech in a back holster at all times. Pity the next guy that tries to rob him, cause he goes to the gun range every weekend.

Bottom line, nobody should be able to just walk into your house like that.

___
One day I was sitting in my house and one of the 10-11 year old girls just walked in my house to play with the puppy.

Michael Reagan is on KSEV 700AM in Houston around 8 or 9pm when their signal strength is cut back. A shame.

I recall at one time that he went on the air around 5 or 6PM in Houston.

Michael Savage is alright at times but Reagan is always more tempered and rational. Savage is drinking the moonbat kool aid a bit this week ("We setup Saddam, OBL, etc etc. Neocon Neocon...").

I CAN NOT stomach Michael Savage. If you're not depressed when you begin the day's show, you will be when it's over. I flash by him for 5 minutes once a week or so and that's the total. It has nothing to do with whether he's right about an issue, he just complains, complains, complains.

Actually he's at his best maybe when he reflects back to polishing antiques in his dad's business or recalling other memories.

Alvin Van Black was a rude talk host on AM radio in Houston who'd hang up on callers. He became the most outgoing "man about town" reporter covering the entertainment beat for local tv.

Mike also talks about cooking, food, and oldies music.

But he'll only make the occasional political aside in those discussions.

Mike talks about those memory things only when he says he's bored with world events, politics, politicians, etc., which is most always.

I didn't care for Alvin Van Black either. I see no reason to be rude to people.

Back to Jon Mathews, I really hated that he went the road he went down. I listened to him day in and day out and liked to hear him talk about his Mom and his wife and his two sons. Something must have happened......

The nicest talk show host was Mike Richards but he wasn't very stimulating unfortunately.
