ARTICLE SNIPPET: "SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) -- An anti-terrorism task force is investigating a young man's reported jailhouse claims of ties to al-Qaida and a plan to blow up a state Department of Social and Health Services building.

While in the Spokane County jail earlier this month, Anthony Garver, 18, reportedly told fellow inmates he also intended to detonate a bomb at the upcoming Pig Out in the Park event and set off a second device when police responded, authorities said Wednesday."

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Garver's parents have cooperated with investigators and consented to a search of their property in the foothills of Mount Spokane, Brown said.

Evidence found in three searches includes two loaded ammunition clips for an AK-47 semiautomatic rifle, a laptop computer reportedly containing an al-Qaida training manual, a GPS locator device, maps, a mask and other "survivalist-type" gear, said Norm Brown, a spokesman for the Inland Northwest Joint Terrorism Task Force.

No bomb-making components or firearms have been found, but Garver reportedly told jail inmates he planned to build a fertilizer and fuel oil bomb "just like Timothy McVeigh," the Oklahoma City bomber, and blow up a DSHS office in Spokane, Brown said.

He also "bragged that he had an AK-47," but no such gun was located, Brown said.

Investigators took the threats seriously because the man has traveled to Morocco twice in the last two years and might have made terrorist contacts there, Brown said."

Morocco Arrests 44 Terrorist Suspects
Asharq Al-Awsat / AP ^ | 8/8/06

Posted on 08/08/2006 4:46:30 AM PDT by Valin

RABAT, Morocco, AP -Moroccan security services have arrested 44 suspected terrorists and dismantled a network allegedly planning attacks in the North African country, the state news agency reported Monday. The suspects, who included five former soldiers with explosives expertise, were tracked down in Casablanca and six other cities and towns, the MAP agency reported, citing a statement from the Interior Ministry. Morocco's government has cracked down on suspected terrorists since suicide bombings in Casablanca in 2003 left 45 people dead, and stunned a nation where most espouse moderate Islam.

Police also seized explosives, laboratory materials and propaganda leaflets, the report said. The ministry said that the group's leader was a former convict who recruited Islamic radicals to train them in explosives use and planned to wage a holy war. The group allegedly sought to finance its activities through robberies of financial institutions and bank trucks, the statement said.

Human rights groups allege that innocent people have been caught up in the government's sweep, and that many are tortured.

stepping back in time...

"'Another one rides the bus...'
These days Irhabi007 rides the bus...
...from Belmarsh Prison to the courthouse and back again.

TERRORIST 007 OFF-LINE"

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "e report cited above goes on to note the following:

Tsouli immigrated to London four years ago. At the time of his arrest, his father said Tsouli spoke often of the West waging a war against Islam. Bachir Tsouli, then the deputy head of Morocco's tourism office in London, said his son had few friends and spent most of his time at his computer.

It may turn out that Irhabi007 is not so much representative of so-called 'homegrown' jihadis in Europe and North America as he is of the current generation of jihadis in Morocco. The following graphic from a recent SoFIR report illustrates the predominance of Moroccan jihadis amongst North African users of prominent jihadist forums"
