The Republican National Committee's eCampaign Director -- Patrick Ruffini -- has sent out an e-message to America. Writes Ruffini:
"A group of prominent conservative bloggers is turning discussion into action with the launch of Rightroots an effort to support some of the most important House and Senate candidates of this election cycle..."
A visit to the newly online "Rightroots" website shows a listing of GOP candidates deemed "the most important House and Senate candidates for this 2006 election cycle." Included in this select group: Diana Irey -- Congressman John Murtha's PA District 12 opponent!
The brand new website serves as a collecting house as well. Visitors can contribute to any or all of the selected candidates. As of today, candidate Diana Irey has received the most $$ contributions.
This national highlighting of the Pennsylvania race between Irey and Murtha underscores what BootMurtha.com is saying: Rep. John Murtha is an all-American problem. More and more Americans are realizing this and are contributing what they can in time, talent and money to unseat this congressman.
Exactly right, she and Murray are both about as liberal as they come and Cantwell is really in bed with the enviro wackos. I should have worded that stronger, McGavick will be a big improvement.
YIKES! She really needs to go!
She's been a spearhead for the Dems leading the fight against drilling in ANWAR and some other enviro issues. She's also gone along with all the Dem judicial nominee filibusters. I've contacted her office so many times they've got to know my name by heart.
The thing that might be her downfall in our lib state is that the libs are upset with her stand on the war in Iraq, she voted for it and hasn't told the libs it was a mistake.
Take whatever scrap you can get in the great NW. ;*)
the R's try to protect incumbents. if a moderate challenges a conservative incumbent, the party will support the conservative and vice versa and should irey become an incumbent 2 years from now, the party will support her too.
the best example was the party support of bush over mccain in 2000 as bush was the annoited one.
rassmussen has her down by 12 though.
It will be a difficult, but not impossible race to win.
Do you have a link for that poll (spit)?
my point is the party will insert itself in a primary to protect an incumbent from a challenger.
the political leanings of moderate or conservative do not matter.
no I don't have the poll but I will try to find it.
Thanks! I would appreciate seeing it.
I can't find the poll which may mean my memory is mistaken.
I may have mixed it up with the swann rendell race too.
The RNC won't take a cut, but the PAC takes out a percentage for operating expenses and credit card charges. (Complete details are listed on its website)
For one candidate it's still best (IMHO) to donate directly to that person, but this site is a convenient resource for folks wanting to spread the love around.
I'd like to see such a poll. Down by only twelve at this point would be very nice. But you are the only person I've seen so far to claim there is any poll on this race.
Go ahead. I dare you. Make me change my tagline! ;-)
Yes, I heard that news while working out this morning. Definitely brought a smile to my face.
Diana Irey (PA-12) $ 1110.00
This should be good for Irey and damned embarrassing for Murtha. A lawsuit is about the only way an active duty Marine could legally strike back against a sitting Congressman.
If I were Irey, I'd just leave that one alone. She doesn't need to say a word about the lawsuit, IMHO. But keep hammering the SOB for his premature declaration of guilt, which of course is reinforced by this Devil Dog's lawsuit against one despicable EX-Marine.
Sounds good.
I expect any time now Murtha will be issuing a press release trying to tie this lawsuit in with the evil "Swiftboating" of our poor, innocent, hawkish, decorated Marine combat vet from Johnstown. [wiping eyes]
Murtha is the type to start blubbering when he gets cornered.
First will be anger, then tears. If we get to the tears, he is toast.
