the R's try to protect incumbents. if a moderate challenges a conservative incumbent, the party will support the conservative and vice versa and should irey become an incumbent 2 years from now, the party will support her too.

the best example was the party support of bush over mccain in 2000 as bush was the annoited one.

I am not following your post. I was referring to the party inserting itself in a primary. Let the people choose and then back that choice.

I'd like to see such a poll. Down by only twelve at this point would be very nice. But you are the only person I've seen so far to claim there is any poll on this race.
