I am also more focussed on Iran at this point. But I think Iran systematically planned this out from top to bottom- at least the initial taunts to get Israel to take the bait. When the Hezzies couldn't get the initial reaction they wanted out of Israel they took to the missles knowing Israel would then reply swiftly. Methinks Iran is using this as a means to soften up the enemy for the weeks ahead, take a peak at world opinion and align a coalition, and get a handle on IDF abilities. I guess time will tell.

I think you are absolutely correct. And to me it looks like they are getting the response (world opinion wise) that they want.

I've been thinking of the tactics in play as a whole and here is what I'm seeing.

Hezbollah is hiding behind civilians to commit their strikes forcing Israel to target civilian locations.

If the civilian body count is not adequate there is every appearance that they are manufacturing more civilian bodies.

They are targeting Israeli civilians only.

Now they look at the results. Israel is getting bashed for collateral damage while there is no outcry against Hezbollah hiding behind civilians AND targeting civilians.

This is the PR turn I feel Iran was hoping for and is getting. And the worse part of that is Israel pulling back and not trying to take these guys out is not an option.

The only way to right this ship is to get the information on what these scumbags are doing out there and hope that eventually some media outlet finally decides to pick up the ball and run with it. Unlikely in my opinion, but we should still keep shouting out the truth and reality of what Hezbollah, Syria, and Iran are.

[Iran wanted to] take a peek at world opinion and align a coalition, and get a handle on IDF abilities.

That much I can buy.

But if so it has not gone as planned. Someone pointed out in a posting today that Iran has been calling for a ceasefire for 20 days in a row. I can't verify that but they certainly are calling for one right now and they seem very, very unhappy with the "do nothing" U.N.
