We keep hearing this from seemingly intelligent people but it seems complete nonsense to me.
My attention is more on Iran's nuclear plans than ever and it's more in the news than ever. Do you start a war for such a flimsy goal? Methinks not. As far as Iran is concerned this war got started by "accident". They wanted a little dust-up. Nasrallah thought he could be a hero by getting a prisoner swap but the Israelis wanted to eliminate a strategic threat to their survival. Iran went along with the plan. Big time mistake.
Iran blasts UN for failure to stop Israel-Hezbollah conflict

BEIRUT, LEBANON (AP) -- Iran's foreign minister is blasting the UN Security Council for failing to stop the Israel-Hezbollah conflict. Manouchehr Mottaki told reporters after meeting with the Lebanese president that "the UN Security Council has proven its uselessness and ineffectiveness."
Mottaki also accused the United States, without naming it, of complicity in bringing about the death and destruction caused by Israel's 20-day-old offensive in Lebanon.
Meantime, a senior cleric in Iran is calling on the Muslim states to provide weapons to Hezbollah to fight Israel. The Iranian Students News Agency reports Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati urged Iranians to support Hezbollah through cash payments.
I am also more focussed on Iran at this point. But I think Iran systematically planned this out from top to bottom- at least the initial taunts to get Israel to take the bait. When the Hezzies couldn't get the initial reaction they wanted out of Israel they took to the missles knowing Israel would then reply swiftly. Methinks Iran is using this as a means to soften up the enemy for the weeks ahead, take a peak at world opinion and align a coalition, and get a handle on IDF abilities. I guess time will tell.
