The wife and father of kidnapped Israeli soldier Ehud Goldwasser, Karnit, holding a wedding photograph, and Shlomo Goldwasser arrive at Heathrow Airport in London, Monday July 31, 2006. Hezbollah kidnapped two Israeli soldiers on July 12, triggering an Israeli offensive against Lebanon that has killed hundreds of people, mostly civilians.

Some reporterette was on CNN about an hour ago and said that Israeli sources told her that Syria entering the war is the thing Israel is most afraid of.
My husband and I burst out laughing. I'd be stunned if Israel doesn't make sure that Syria DOES enter the conflict.
Re Tony Blair. He's doing a little pandering while in California, but his speech during joint press conference with President Bush last Friday was brilliant.

Sample: "But then, as the President was saying a moment or two ago, we've then got to realize what has happened in the past few weeks is not an isolated incident. It is part of a bigger picture. Now, I'm going to say some more things about this in the days to come, but we really will never understand how we deal with this situation unless we understand that there is a big picture out in the Middle East, which is about reactionary and terrorist groups trying to stop what the vast majority of people in the Middle East want, which is progress towards democracy, liberty, human rights, the same as the rest of us.
Now, that's the battle that's going on. And, yes, it is always very difficult when something like this happens, as it has happened over the past few weeks. So we've got to resolve the immediate situation, but we shouldn't be in any doubt at all, that will be a temporary respite unless we put in place the longer-term framework."
But read all his comments.
The Lord has shown great mercy on my family through out troubled times and we give thanks to Him and support His chosen.

Probably both
Who's going to attack whom? Syria getting nervous?
I would assume that any attacks will be on munitions and WMD supply depots stretched between Lebanon and Iraq, but well north of the 12-mile Damascus "tripwire".
Jennifer - lot of flares on border, lot of air activity.
Yes, surprise is a good thing.
