I have to give John Batchelor the award for THE coolest ending of any radio show.

For those who haven't heard it, he wraps up his show with a segement which begins with a love song that sounds like it's from the 20's. As that plays in the background, he reads some interesting update from the world of astronomy. He ends with-- "Here comes Kate", followed by Kate Smith singing God Bless America.

Q) What's the song you always play just before Kate Smith sings, "God Bless America," at the very end of each show?

A) Al Bowlly sings, "Midnight, the Stars and You" by Ray Noble and His Orchestra; recorded in London on February 16, 1934.

You are so right about the ending of John B.s show being cool. Kate Smith singing *God Bless America* brings tears to my eyes! So patriotic!
