The long threads actually do come in very useful when needing to search back for research.
But, the long threads shouldn't take place of new items being posted on their own threads. New events need their own post, then cross referenced into long threads.
Sometimes out of curiosity I take a quick look at the long threads, but 99% of my thread-reading is on particulative threads. But now look, this is becoming a chat thread, too.
