Mel Gibson apologizes for DUI arrest

LOS ANGELES - Mel Gibson issued a lengthy statement Saturday apologizing for his drunk driving arrest and saying he has battled alcoholism throughout his life.

Gibson also apologized for what he said were "despicable" statements he made to the deputies who arrested him early Friday morning on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.

"I acted like a person completely out of control when I was arrested," he said in a statement issued by his publicist. "I disgraced myself and my family with my behavior and for that I am truly sorry. I have battled with the disease of alcoholism for all of my adult life and profoundly regret my horrific relapse."

Publicist Alan Nierob declined to elaborate beyond the statement.

Gibson, 50, was arrested for investigation of driving under the influence of alcohol after deputies stopped his 2006 Lexus LS 430 for speeding. Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said deputies clocked him doing 87 mph in a 45 mph zone.

A breath test indicated Gibson's blood-alcohol level was 0.12 percent, Whitmore said. The legal limit in California is 0.08 percent.

The actor was released early Friday after posting $5,000 bail.

"who holds" what? I'm not going to go into a long disertation on how to prove the elements of the offense. Suffice it to say that I did the work for a total of thirty years, and I have half a clue as to what I'm talking about. Obviously, you believe that all things are the same everywhere in all jurisdictions leading me to believe that you know nothing on the matter.
If you are confused as to what the elements of DUI are in your state, look it up on line. I'm sure that they have a web site that lists all of the state laws.

I did all that.

Found out that states' DWI laws have essentially been federalized, with the fedguv issuing the outline, along with required elements; then holding the states hostage until they pass them by threatining to withold federal highway funds.

In essence, MADD has rewritten the states' DWI laws with help from the federal government.

Gibson made remarks while drunk. Do you know him? I doubt it, so you have no way of knowing if he "hates" the jews or not.

And if does, so what? He's an actor. When he starts hurting someone, I'll care. Plenty of athiests & Jews/Muslims in the USA hate Christians, but I don't stay up nights crying myself to sleep over it.

Well, if you are Jewish and cry yourself to sleep because an actor my not like Jews - I feel sorry for you. Maybe you should be a tougher like the Jews in Israel who are putting their lives on the line. Or Christians who seem to tolerate insults and hatred from non-christians in this country.
